i would put Wlad top 30...I can easily think of 20 HW that deserve to be above him!

Charles beat Walcott old Louis and Bivins. That is restricting myself specifically to the ATG fighters he beat. Wlad's list of ATG's is absolutley non-exsistant.

He gets through to the twenty on consistancy, skill-set and dominance, but I wouldn't have issue with someone ranking him outside the twenty, frankly.

On the other hand for someone to rank Schmeling outside of the 20, when he is arguably in possession of the greatest win in the history of the division would seem ridiculous to me.

It's perfectly reasonable to rank these men above Wlad, and it isn't anywhere near the :nono stage, thanks.

I think retiring undefeated champion might get him an additional bump...and there's plenty to be said for dominating weak competition as long as it's proper domination. He can definitely climb higher on my list, though I have him lower to begin with, making it easier. Once you get to 13 or 14 the going gets tough and you need names or an 0, so I can definitely see guys who overate him - from my perspective - hitting a brick wall.

Oops! I missed that part................I read this site while I'm at work & I tend to miss stuff every now & then. Either way I can't rank Spinks in the top 10 & Charles is around 20 or so, after Wlad who I have at around #15.

Wlad is probably up in the top 15-25. Don't forget he also has another good 3-4 years to either mess up or to cement his legacy.

We shall see what he makes of it.

Where would Lewis have been ranked without beating a washed up Tyson? And then losing to Vitali? The final 1-2 fights can have a gigantic effect on one's legacy.

i agree that schmeling's win is one of the best in division's history but he only put in solid service other than that one win. the win against sharkey for the title is still something of a mystery but he lost the return. he was stopped by baer shortly after that (but no great shame in that...possibly the hardest hitter in heavyweight history). his win against louis, in light of the few years before was remarkable but overall his career is certainly left wanting.

Even if he is top 20, he ain't no ATG.
