Who had better resume in the long run: Calzaghe at 168lb or Hopkins at 160lb?

    Calzaghe:
    - 22 title wins
    - best wins:

    Hopkins:
    - 20 title wins
    - best wins: Johnson, Joppy, Trinidad, DLH, Eastman

They are similar, Eastman and Johnson, and maybe Tito also, are Bhops best wins at 160, Tito was the only one he really impressed in but then he was the bigger man

Calzaghe was dominant and he beat Eubank at the same age that Bhop was still mugging old ladies, then he wasted Lacy and outscored Kessler well.

Then he came to USA and beat Bhop in his own backyard.

Hopkins of course also lost to Jones albeit a more prime one.

Some would say Tito wasnt a real middleweight but he blitzed Joppy, their resumes are similar enough for me to not pick too many holes

Ottke obviously is a bit of a bad german joke, what with "careful" matchmaking and german hometown decisions

B-Hop was dominate, just wasn't crowd pleasing.

Cal's should just be Eubanks, Lacy, and Kessler

Hop's should just be Tito, DLH, and Johnson. (Although the Johnson fight isn't really what boosted his name). So far from this Hops wins. Lacy was never any good imo, and if he was he would've went on to do at least something. Kessler is the wild card, lot's of potential but hasn't really fought much since losing. But he has a big chance in this Tournament to really do something.

As for Hop's wins, Tito, DLH All-Time-Greats, and Johnson has went on to become champion in a higher weight class and has been at the top of the LHW division for some time. But DLH and TITO not natural Middles and little men compared to Hops.

skill wise prime for prime....hopkins ranks higher then calzaghe by a mile....

however, careful match-making and beating up on a past it eubank(who i feel in his prime stops joe) beating a overrated lacy, and now inactive kessler does make your resume look good just by the names alone......but joe's resume is not all that great when you break each of his fights down....

I voted for the better fighter in most categories.....Hopkins...

Lacy wasnt amazing but he was IBF world champ, he was the best US fighter at the time ;)

DLH was never a 160 cos he lost to Felix Sturm also IMO

Glenn was still green at the time he fought B-Hop. The way he was dominated, the way it was his first loss and only KO loss...
The match wouldn't go like that with both men in their prime!!

Yeah, Hop takes this. Must've been an awesome night. You could feel the electricity just watching it on TV.

Yes Lacy was IBF champ, but he didn't really beat anyone of merit to become a title holder. Depending on who has the belt, anyone can get it. Lacy was extremely overhyped and people stupidly thought of him as a SMW tyson, when he fought nothing like tyson, just had the build. But good physique don't=greatness. With that said, he was ok -- but in hindsight we know he didn't even deserve to be in the same ring as Cal.

Yea DLH should've loss to Sturm. And he didn't deserve the belt. Still DLH is a good win though, regardless. And unlike Lacy with Cal, he was at least competitive with Hops until he got KO'd.

Don't see how Johnson can be touted as a special win for Hopkins on the basis of performances six or more years later.

The Johnson that Hopkins beat was unbeaten coming in, but against mostly mediocre oppostion at best. He then went on to move up to supermiddleweight and six out of ten fights with the only four wins coming against fighters with 61 defeats between them.

Brewer and Bika are also some Calzaghe's best wins.

Hopkins. You can't argue with 20 defences.
