i still think dirrell can outbox him to a UD but what you say could very easily happen. if froch can impose his will on dirrell and take him into the trenches, then i can't see him not landing some flush rights. i guess it all depends on how well dirrell can stick to his gameplan and not allow froch to drag him into a his kind of fight. having said that, even if dirrell can stick to his gameplan, i don't really see him stopping froch.

Early footage shows that Dirrell doesn't like the pressure of being taken into a war, and going into the trenches with a proven world champion (Despite what some of the posters on ESB would have you believe) would seem a lot for a previously untested yet good prospect who didn't look comfortable having the limited Anthony Hanshaw pressure him.

Dirrells technical ability has been showcased a few times against stiffs which is all well and good for a padded record but when it comes to the crunch, is this guy going to stand up to 20,000 or so fans in a volatile environment in a different country? Against a guy who is going to bring it to him hard for 12 rounds, whos to say Dirrell even has the power to hurt Froch?

It begs the question, is Dirrell just another American hype job? I see that some of the more senior posters have even made likenesses to roy jones junior, that is a bold prediction.

    Let the flames commence.

I expect an easy win for Dirrell but the judges will have it a lot closer than it should be. Froch is always so wide open, I wouldn't count out Dirrell knocking him out in the later rounds.

    1. the lord broke the mold on rjj...no comparisons are warranted despite what rico may have you believe.

    2. i suppose an amount of hype is to be expected in an effort to maximize ratings for the tourney. dirrell is very talented and very raw....so i think his chances can be hyped but not his ability b/c he clearly has that...

    3. i agree that footage shows some flaws. his footwork needs work and his d is spotty and i havent seen an over abundance of power yet (which may be a result of poor footwork and not getting set properly)

    4. no he hasnt fought anyone really, but i suppose you have to earn your stripes at some point. yes froch is proven and i like the guy but dirrell is lucky his first fight is against someone who posseses the flaws froch does as opposed to someone like kessler. i feel he has a much better chance at this point against froch than if his first fight were against kessler.

    5. it will be a new world for dirrell facing froch in that environment, no doubt about it.

i can't ****ing wait for any of these fights. i still can't believe this was pulled off. :happy

I see the first few rounds being shared before Froch stops Dirrell in the 8 or 9th.

Dirrell seems quite tidy for the most part but his speed is overrated on what I have seen, Taylor and Pascal for 2 being faster.

A switch hitter that doesn't really use the tactic effectively and his head is pretty stationary which will be bad news against Froch.

Froch has big flaws but he is tough as nails and keeps coming and keeps swinging and when he thinks about it he's got good shot selection.

Dirrells jab looks **** hot but that isn't enough.

Unless Froch has gone chinny I see nothing other than a bruising UD Froch or late stoppage for Froch.

Too tough at this stage for Dirrell.

This is a tuff one too call, it depends on alot of things...is Dirrell able to cope with the pressure and step up to the plate....The fites in Nottingham so Froch will get more calls...I think that if Dirrell steps up to the plate he has the technical ability to outdo Froch who has to work on his DEFENSE...Its a close one i think Dirrell split decision but it will be a good fite

Agreed, Dirrell doesn't have stamina issues like JT. Nice screen name also.

Kudos to Solid Chin for labelling the thread his 'official prediction'.

As opposed to Froch v Taylor, where he first predicted Froch to win, then later predicted Taylor to win (saying it would be an easy night for Taylor and Froch had no chance of knocking Taylor out...). Then made a thread after the fight congratulating himself for 'calling it perfectly' :rofl

I take it this is going to be the one and only 'official predicition'?

I am quite uncertain of the outcome of this fight.
I am beginning to like Carl Froch's personality and gutsy "don't give a ****" personality, plus he brings a lot of excitement into the ring which is always a plus.

Although I will be cheering for Carl to stop Dirrell, I think Dirrell will have too much movement and enough power to keep Carl at the end of his punches, all night long.
