I agree that an Adamek fight would really bring this to a conclusion. I voted Hopkins, but just barely. If Hopkins beats Adamek he'd have the ring middle, lightheavy, and cruiserweight championships all after age 40. That is an achievement no one will ever match and would be much bigger than Roy's win over Ruiz.

Roy won more world titles, Roy stepped up through more weight divisions and made good fighters look rediculously average. B-hop is a genetic freak having some of the best fights of his career at 40+ and a 10year stint as middle weight king doesnt come easy. These to should just fight and get it over with. B-hop dissapointed me a little in that phone interview so i went with jones just.

...you said he won "the lhw championship". Linear/recognized world champion is the championship. The only thing Hopkins won at 175 was a magazine's belt. The same one that was handed to RJ .

I'm at work, so I cant play the interview, but what are the general highlights? Were Roy and B-Hop on at the same time? Did they say anything about fighting each other?

RJJ has the better legacy in that he'll be remembered forever by everyone

Hopkins will only be known by the die-hard future classic forum posters.

The interview is about 40-50 minutes long if you can believe it and trust me, you will be rolling on the floor laughing.

Basically, Hopkins was asked to come in for the interview but about half way through it, after Hopkins was dogging RJ a bit, a caller called in claiming he's Roy Jones and it turns out to be him. And then the fun begins.

Just listen to it when you get home.

Roy, if only for being the first former middleweight champ since Bob Fitzsimmons to win a heavyweight belt.

B-Hop went on an unnceccesary rant about McNabb, and implied McNabb was scared of him. A Roy Jones lackey then called in and said Hopkins was scared of Roy:rofl. Hopkins proceeded to **** on Roy and then Roy called in. Roy was basically talking real fast and stumbling all over his words. Hopkins then proceeded to completely embarrass Roy. He said Roy was washed up, he talked about how Roy got his ass knocked the **** out by guys Hopkins beat with ease and then they started talking about fighting eachother. Roy said he wanted 60/40 to the winner. Hopkins rightfully asked for a 60/40 split to him no matter what. They argued about that, and then the host suggested that the winner take all and Roy agreed. At this point Hopkins basically told Roy to go **** himself as he was done dealing witht that clown and hung up.

haha, can't wait to listen in. I hope it's as much fun as the "60/40 I kick your ass." "take some english lessons" exchange from some years back.

It's 10X better than the "60/40" interview because it's so long and the fact that RJ called up makes it special.

haha, awesome. I think if Hopkins beats Adamek and Jones beats Green IMPRESSIVELY, there's a reasonable chance they could meet at Cruiserweight. I would love to see those two settle the score once and for all.

It is. Nowhere you'll see a mention of Jones easily beating Hopkins. Hopkins was green, whatever, he still had more fights than Jones and at 28 was at his physical peak. But then, i guess Hopkins was one of the "garbage men and cops" that Jones beat.

He also mentions Jones beating "top p4p'ers", but what he really means is beating up little men. Trinidad and Dela Hoya came from welterweight and Oscar started even lower, at superfeatherweight.

On the other hand, of Jones beating up BIGGER guys at LHW and particularly an alphabet heavyweight champion in Ruiz, you'll see no mention.

Although he does mention Pavlik as a "bigger guy" that Hopkins beat. Pavlik never fought above 160lbs and weighed in at 174lbs the day of the fight, to the "smaller" Hopkins' 180lbs.

I think Hopkins record breaking reign as middleweight king, and the fact that he's still an elite fighter at 43 makes his overall legacy greater than Jones'.
Add to that, Hopkins was never as thoroughly defeated as Jones was. The image of Jones being unconscious for minutes will leave a greater lasting impression than a Hopkins losing a few controversial split decisions.
