I agree with this completely, so often people don't differentiate between boxing skill and hand speed. 'More flash than substance'. Good post.
I think James Toney is at least worth mentioning. One of my favourites to watch in his prime as he had such incredible talent. He could do things that just can't be taught, and I´m not talking athletic ability...
Roy Jones. People like to say Iron Mike but so much of his success was due to the fact that he was such an awesome technician. When he left Rooney, he looked much, much worse when it was just his physical abilities. Roy Jones was a freak.
A lot of what Monzon did was natural, but you wouldn't hear many people mentioning his name in a thread like this.
He was workhorse. Not a naturally talented fighter. Depending on how picky and different you want to be I suppose.
