Is jealousy one of the things that make this sport a difficult one to be involved with? I was saying this morning that jealousy in this business is the worst disease, because you cant cure it. The other thing thats made this business very difficult are these stupid forums on the Internet, they are killing it. It is an open invitation for people who dont know what they are talking about; anyone can get a username and log onto them. They are not moderated properly, someone thinks I dont like the look of him and then start up criticism of that person online. It can destroy people. http://www.boxingnewsonline.net/BN08/detail.asp?id=1239
 If one is 'destroyed' by Internet warriors he should take a long hard look in the mirror. Yeah I can see it... Lack of TV...poor undercards...mismatches...PPV rip offs...Internet forums.
Dean if your reading this.....:fy A completely stupid comment to make. Were not in a game where we can massage ego's. This is the hurt game and people get hurt physically and emotionally and without us fans he would be earning the living he does from this sport. I know there's idiots out there that make stupid comments and we all make judgements at times on fighters that are unfair but come on....these forums keep fans in the loop and give fans a chance to interact with fighters.
I hate to have to tell him this but he may as well get used to it. There ARE a lot of idiots who use the anonimity of internet forums as an excuse to express opinions or make allegations that they wouldn't dare to in 'real life' but I think, on the whole, they do more good than bad for boxing.
boxing would be long dead without internet boxing sites - boxing sites and forums keep it alive. I never see soccer, basketball or hockey players crying about what fans say on forums... I noticed mostly British fighters and promoters like to cry about forums and take everything posted way too serious... how silly is that?
It's silly. Not all do though, we've got some good contributors in here from around the Brit boxing scene. Tony Bellew really impresses me.
I take it this stems from the 'luke warm' (to put it politely) response on forums when he was announced as Khans new trainer last year??
i dont think this site is bad for slagging boxers really. Ok we might say 1 or 2 bad things but then again most of us have the utmost respect for boxers no matter what there level and ability and treat them with the same respect. But we are truthful. There is some dicks though which you guys can tell without me saying (yes you Losfer, talking about mums is too far)
Some very good comments made. It's just a hunch but I guarantee he isn't on any of the forums anyway- this begs the question: how can he have an opinion on something he probably doesn't even use? I come on here to talk to others about a sport that I am a huge fan of. How can that be a bad thing about the sport? What would Deano rather people do, send telegrams or letters to each other? Get with the times, Deano- it's no different to fans talking about the sport on the telephone or in person. The only difference is you and others in the business can't turn a blind eye to it like general verbal chit-chat as it's here in print. Yeah, people who love the sport are talking about it- whatever next, eh?
I feel the same emotions about middle aged blokes with bald heads riding Lambrettas and still pronouncing their allegiance as a Mod. Those who know Tango Man will get it.
Just seen his interview in the magazine. Basically he's pissed off as he's gets a lot of stick for the mismatches he puts on as Warren's matchmaker. "We couldn't do the job, we don't know how hard it is" etc.
