Calslappy will never have a better career than the executioner.

Its close, i rank Hopkins wins over Tarver and Pavlik as his best and obviously werent at middle, and his 20 defences save a few were not against great oppostion. Joe also fought quite a few bums Manfedo etc, but his Kessler win was his best fight IMO. Joe shades it for me.

    Hudson ended this debate yesterday

Take note posters...Here is a guy that hasnt a clue about boxing...Mercado was never a defence, they fought twice for a vacate title. Lipsey was the hottest fighter in boxing at the time, one could say he was the Kessler of his era...A fighter that hadnt done anything but everyone expected big things from him. Lipsey was a very good fighter and was retired at the hands of Hopkins. Johns David jackson, Andrew Council and robert allen were as good as anyone Cazlaghe defended against, except his last three fights. Simon Brown knocked out a prime Terry Norris. Echols was a two time number one contender and a guy that Cazlaghe shamelessly ducked when stating that he would fight the winner of Echols vs Brewer only to fight the loser stating that Brewer was the REAL winner even though he got knocked out by Echols. Holmes was a very good fighter who beat the crap out of Woodhall who gave a much bigger Calzaghe a tougher fight.

    End thread

Hopkins biggest names at 160 were Natural Welterweights even though hes physically a lightheavyweight, He fought Tito and DLH both welters so he kind of had a size and power advantage going into the fights and lost when he fought Jones and Taylor who were naturally Middleweights.

Calzaghes biggest names at 168 were fellow champions such as Mikkel Kessler, Byron Mitchell, Charles Brewer, Jeff Lacy, Robin Reid, Richie Woodhall blah blah blah also he never lost one fight at 168 let alone his entire career but failed to get an earlier unification with Ottke or Jones when they were at the weight.

All in all Calzaghes Resume is better at that weight and to be honest is better all togehter but still very close, they were both unified Champs of their division but Joe wins

I dont know. One of Calslaps only mentionable wins at supermiddleweight being against a guy one of Hopkins victims knocked out stands out pretty well. Holmes defeating Woodhall too.

I voted Calzaghe. Two of those are former welterweights... although they were great at their prime weight of 147... 160 was a stretch. so being honest you are then left with Johnson, Sloppy Joppy, and Eastman.

I'd put Sloppy Joppy in the same league as Lacy, Brewer, Eubank.

Kessler is the big difference in my opinion. Johnson is great but, I'm not too sure he's of the same caliber as Kessler.

So basically you have 5 legit SMW vs only 3 LEGIT MW in that poll... I would maybe rethink that... cause although they are famous names they don't hold much in the sens eof the 160lbs division..

About as relevant as Sheika beating Glen Johnson. Loving the way you big up Simon Brown knocking out Terry Norris but neglected to mention he was getting outboxed at the time, got utterly schooled in the rematch or the various other defeats he suffered to not that stellar opposition before he got to Hopkins.

It was more two buttons and a matchstick. Two cents would actually be a relevant contribution.
