Better resume: Calzaghe at 168 or Hopkins at 160?

Holmes did dominate Woodhall, Calzaghe did pretty much equally well. What's your point. Holmes is probably the best name at middleweight on Hopkins' record - Holmes was a very good fighter indeed and was far more proven than Trinidad at the weight.

Simon Brown? The same Simon Brown who got beaten handily by Lonnie Bradley - who isn't in Woodhall's league - before fighting Hopkins, let alone Hopkins or Calzaghe? Ke knocked out Norris but lost a rematch and three other fights before fighting Hopkins - don't tell me it was anything other than a anomaly.

Lipsey was NOT a good fighter, nowhere near Kessler's level. If you want, I can put footage of him up on youtube in a few days.

I've already stated on this thread that Hopkins had the better resumé, but don't portray the likes of Echols, Vanderpool, Allen et al as better than Calzaghe's best wins, because they're not. Not even close.

Ok first of all Lipsey may of looked good at the time but he hadn't had a fight with anyone, before his fight with hopkins, whereas Kessler had 2 titles and some good names on his record. So you can not compare them at all! Lacy had better names on his record than Lipsey did..... if you compare Lipsey to anyone then let it be Veit who was unbeaten but had never really been in with anyone world class.

    next

"Johns David jackson, Andrew Council and robert allen were as good as anyone Cazlaghe defended against, except his last three fights"

ok so you agree that Calzaghe defended against people as good as this so I don't really need to say much but I would rate Eubanks, Reid, Mitchel and Brewer Higher.

"Simon Brown knocked out a prime Terry Norris"

That doesn't make him a top fighter.... Rahman knocked out a prime Lewis.

Echols and Holmes were good fighters but no better than Eubanks, Mitchel, Brewer or Reid.

Why is Johnson great? Or more pertinently, why was he great at or around the time Hopkins beat him? Still waiting for an insight into this that doesn't rest on achievements from six years and multiple defeats after Hopkins beat him.

There's very little more pathetic than someone making a truly awful play on someone's name. Seriously, grow up or **** off.

bernard not being a crowd pleaser is just an outright fallacy. Bhop used to go for the 1st round KO against bad asses. Watch his fights then start talking please and don't just make up stuff. Hopkins was an animal in his youth, absolutely relentless workrate. I think his fights versus Segundo Mercado should be mentioned as well....

Lipsey was not the hottest fight. although i do love watching that ko. by the way LIpsy turned out worse then jeff lacy. so end of Disscusion.

    Joe beat hopkins
Lispey and kessler are far from compareble kessler won two world titles was bigger then joe. something lispey wasn't 5'9 compared to b-hops 6'1 and it showed during the fight.

hell even lacy was a better win then lispey.:good

you must still lose sleep over joe beating the **** out of your hero and leaving him bloddy .

i bet you nuted in your tighy whitey when RJJ landed that forearm for the knock down. then after that you started to go in to a slump as joe got in his grove come round 2 by round 8 you probally stained your panies and pants when you saw the blood and probaly smashed your TV when JOe started clowning RJJ,AS THAT COULD BE THE ONLY EXPLINATION FOR YOU TALKING **** ABOUT JOE ALL THE TIME. YOU MUST OF NOT SEEN THE END OF THAT FIGHT JUST SO YOU KNOW JOE IS RJJ DADDY FOR NOW ON.

GOT TO DIS AGREE HERE KESSLER DOESN'T GET FLUSTERD by pressure fighters in the style of Johnson he has a better style suited for fighters like johnson , andrade and fighter of that mold. his 1,2 and foot movement off sets the come foward rythm and makes them reset their foot placement and punch. make sit hard for them to get of and get good power behind their punches with him turning them all the time he doesn't go back stright like dawson and Bute. i would say his only fault is his lack of head movement. but he keeps up a real good gaurd
