Marquez will mantain that power and focus on speed in the last weeks of his training camp.

Let me add that for Nacho to say what he did in that article is major.......he never predicted anything but an extremely difficult fight for JMM against Pacquiao.

Nacho is a realist.....he does'nt shoot his mouth depicting how easily his fighter will beat another in the fashion that Freddie Roach is becoming accustomed.

For Nacho to say anything about his content to see JMM progress at this higher weight is monumental.

For Nacho to be saying 45% now, I'm wondering if in fact he is really now just confident that his fighter is going to win.

You read between the lines very well. I would be taunted as trying to some how boost my fighter comp if I made that post but you are 1000% correct. For Nacho to say that...We are going to see a beast version of JMM come 9/19.

    thanks for posting.

As has been noted, Beristain is a realist, he recently criticized Rafael about his work ethic and gave a grim outlook, and he has been outspoken about Mayweather being too big for Juan Manuel and this being a bad fight.

As a smart boxing fan pointed out to me, the top 5 P4P fighters in the world today all have intelligent and grounded coaches (Roach only talks smack in public, postfight and seemingly in he's usually realistic and honest), and all 5 fighters listen to their coach's every word: Floyd, Marquez, Pac, Hopkins, Mosley.

I'm not well informed of the current Roger Mayweather charge, but if Floyd doesn't have Roger in the corner to help him adjust to Marquez's adjustment, that's a serious handicap. I know he wasn't there for Baldomir, but Baldomir had no plan B or C. Marquez probably has plan D.

JMM is all heart, but he's too small to fight at WW.

This is good to hear. I really like both fighters and am looking forward to this being a good fight. JMM has a hell of a work ethic. I would love to see him be able to fight on for a good while yet. If he doesn't win this fight, he can go to 140, maybe fight Bradley, or Pacquiao (if he loses to Cotto).

I'm still surprised some people say JMM will lose, but only say it's because he's too "small". This fight is about skill, two of the most skilled in boxing.

Who said so? What's your basis on saying this? I am sure you're saying this w/ your tongue in cheek. We'll see. We'll see.

After this fight, Marquez won't be the same again. It's useless for Pac to fight him again for the usual suspects will say Marquez is shot, destroyed by Floyd, he's old and has been into many fights, etc. You guys should realize that Marquez is fighting Floyd only for the retirement money while Floyd cherrypicked Juan the small guy as tuneup fight for the biggest payday in his life against Pac. Truth will unravel after the fight.

Not only JMM is smaller but he's also the older, slower and weaker boxer compared to Floyd.... PBF is 4 to 1 favorite...

Nevertheless, if Nacho elevated JMM's chances from 30% to 45% then I'm also upgrading mine from 0.01% to 0.015% (same percentage increase)...

I like Nacho, he's just being realistic... Nacho Berestain expects Floyd to win (giving Floyd 55% chance of winning) but his own boxer JMM has a chance too (45% chance)...;)
