Thx for the insightful info. which confirms that cut caused the spots essentially blinding Nate's vision. Well then as I've implied, Cotto's cut looked worse but Campbell's was far more damaging.
Yes, I know about Nate's statement, MJ. Yep. It can also be caused without any impact at all, as by certain diseases.
Not even close. Miguel Cotto's cut was way worse and he fought like a man/champion. Campbell was looking for a way out because he was about to get beat down.
No problem. I just wanted to make it clear for anyone who didnt know. I dont want to see Campbell unfairly labeled as a quitter just because people are unaware of what really happened. I was actually thinking of doing a thread on the relationship between punch resistance and dehydration. It seems to me a lot of boxing fan arent truly aware of the effects of severe weight draining, and just assume it means the fighter didnt hydrate properly and is making excuses
Truth is, MJ's post indeed gave us insightful info on vitreous hemorrhage. But we already knew what Nate had stated about his eye condition, so nothing new about that.
Cool. I never labeled him as a "quitter", in the sense of a "coward" and **** like that. This poll isn't about the heart of these two fighters, anyway, it's about cuts. All I'm saying is that it's possible that Nate saw that cut as an opportunity to get a NC, as he was obviously losing and the cut would make it even more difficult for him for the rest of the fight. That is a very, very interesting topic and you should absolutely make a thread about it. People would learn something very important about boxing and it would keep people from spitting ignorant comments about the subject left and right.
I guess I'm just not as cynical to think Nate would go through such lengths to conspire covering up quitting. And I'm a guy, mind you who believes "The Matrix" is a metaphorical reflection on modern society.
Well, Nate's a very smart guy! But seriously, I don't suggest that. That's probably what happened with Nate, it's just that people think he could have continued even without having 100% vision, as Cotto did. But that condition (vitreous hemorrhage) is a serious one and if that's the case, then it was a good move on Nate's part to stop the fight, even if he didn't know what exactly was his condition at that time. Damn, what a mess this story is.
This is something I can't judge since both fighters suffered different effects from their cuts. Cotto's bled more if that is what you mean...yeah, it looked worse, but I don't vote on stuff like that even if it is my man Carles thread.
