I have a hard time putting him at one and hes my favorite, favorite fighter..... Granted, he would have beaten TWO fellow p4p fighters.... in shane and pac.... i just dont know, i think he would need one more good win.... with mosley, jmm, also losing.... or something. I dont know id have to think on it more.
Shane doesn't deserve / isn't really that high in P4P list. Shane should be at like 7 or 8. Not 4/5 like most people have him. He was beaten by a fighter that wasn't in the P4P list. (Cotto) Jumped to 154, struggled but beat Mayorga and didn't crack any top ten list. Then beats Margo and somehow jumps to 5 on most peoples list. :nut So Cotto shouldn't come close if he were to beat pac.
I doubt Cotto's people would let him fight Williams, its a bad match for Cotto because he fades and Williams never fades. Although if he can outbox him like he did Marg and win, and get by Pac perhaps number #1. I don't think he needs Mosley even though he's the champ and beat the man that beat him.
Mosley was beat by cotto who im also 100% sure was a p4p fighter at the time, or maybe it was the mosley win that made him p4p... but anyways, so you say shane SHOULD be around 7? Well then... youd have cotto whos beaten the former number one pound for pound fighter, and the the 7th ranked p4p fighter, has beaten anyone whos anyone at welterweight outside of margarito and mayweather... i dont know its tough, again, im not saying im putting cotto at one but id def have to think on it. whats your top 10 look like if mayweather beats jmm and cotto demolishes pac?
I think the ring would have cotto at number 2 if he won....in my own personal top 10 cotto is on the outside looking in at the moment, but we are talking about the ring's top 10 p4p..... If cotto beats manny, and floyd beats marquez...I could see the ring putting floyd and cotto 1,2 respectively
Top 4. Would like this 1. Mayweather 2. Pac 3. Cotto 4. JMM Too many if's after that. Depending on what Williams does Cotto could be 4 or JMM could be 5. Etc.
I wouldn't argue that. It's very possible. But moving Cotto to even 2 seems too much. That's how I would have Pac at 2.
Mayweather never lost it in the ring so to me I think that would give him the edge of #1. Cotto beating PAC and suddenly taking the number one spot if far fetched. He'd be in the top 5 for sure IMO. I think he'd need one more big win to clitch that spot.
