Enough with your mumbo-jumbo with words like *****, nuts, ***s, balls... Why don't you refute all these blunders?? Floyd vs. JMM tuneup, mismatch fight promotion blunders: BLUNDER #1 Fight was hurriedly announced just 12 hours before the Pacquiao-Hatton fight... It's not a good sign to promote a supposedly "big" fight riding on the buzz of some other big fight... If it's a big fight, it can stand on its own... BLUNDER #2 Floyd Mayweather Sr. proclaimed that JMM is just a TUNE UP fight for Floyd... Great!! Boxing fans will start buying tickets to see this tune up fight... BLUNDER #3 Promotional tour visit in London... No disrespect to boxing fans in London but why London? Is it because Matthew is fighting on the undercard? They should concentrate promoting the main event boxers... They could also have the promo tour to Mexico or to Grand Rapids instead of London... BLUNDER #4 The fight will be at a guessweight... :rofl It's up for the fans and media to guess the real weight these boxers will fight... I think this is one of the biggest promotional blunder... Weight as we all know is one of the most important factor in a fight and should be fixed and agreed upon during fight negotiation and should be clearly announced to the media and buying fans... BLUNDER #5 Floyd is willing to pay step aside money to JMM in order to fight somebody else... This only shows that their fight is really an irrelevant joke fight which can be easily postponed and/or canceled... It's also a big disrespect to JMM... BLUNDER #6 JMM's trainer Nacho Berestain publicly stated in a news article that he only give JMM 45% chance of defeating Floyd... I know Nacho is just being honest and realistic with his ward's chances in this fight but this won't help for the promotion of this fight... This maybe a tactical ploy but it doesn't help the business side of this fight...
Actually the card for this fight is amazing isnt it? I thought good undercards had died, but this one is pretty impressive.
Why are you goin on about the blunders, and then at other times raggin on the fight as being crap. They're not related at all. Sure they probably made some mistakes building it up, but who cares, won't take away from it being a great night of boxing for us.
How is this a blunder? Trying to capitalize off the obvious history between Mayweather, Hatton, Pac and Marquez? Whoa! Stay in your barrio and leave the business to the professionals. *head pat* Nobody remembers **** Floyd sr says. He says one thing then says another. Boxing fans will be buying this fight because they get to see 2 of the best skilled fighters in the sport, and a awesome undercard. The UK is one of the major hotspots of boxing right now. Capitalizing on that revenue stream would be great for boxing. THe UK fans are great supporters and unlike the majority of pinoys support fighters other then those that come from their country. Its a welterweight fight. Nobody cares what their official weight is. Next! When has Floyd disrespecting his opponents ever been bad for business? Again. Barrio = U Business = Mayweather It greatly helps with the business side of the fight. If Nacho thinks the fight is near 50/50 that would mean JMM has a great shot at winning right? atsch Now instead of running away. Explain to me how this card, which includes 5 world champion level fighters, Zab Judah, Mayweather and Marquez, is so unappealing, considering the outer trash that has been PAcquiaos cards over the last 3 fights? Why would I as a consumer not find this fight attractive?
They only stack the fight card up when they realized that the main event alone won't carry the fight card... Remember this fight was supposed to be last month, got postponed since it's not selling well... As a fan, I'm happy that the promoters were able to put up a decent undercard to offset the possible boring tuneup, mismatch main event fight... Happy that they starting to offer the tickets/PPVs thru beer purchase rebate and cheaper package deals... .
Floyd been in boring fights... Floyd been BOOed in a boring fight... JMM been in boring fights... JMM also been BOOed in a boring fight before... Combine the 2 and it's highly possible that you will get a boring fight between 2 master counterpunchers who will wait on each other on who will throw a punch first... Floyd also known for his potshotting and running... With his longer reach and much superior speed over JMM, he can easily potshot JMM from range towards a boring UD victory... run... run... potshot... run... run... run... potshot... run... run... Who wants to buy a highly possible BORING fight?? .
BIG mistake by loudmouth Floyd... He got what he's asking for... Floyd: "white folks can not dominate in boxing, they had to start mixed martial arts." Floyd: "mixed martial arts is for beer drinkers, boxing is for everybody."
No disrespect taken, but I must refute your claim to blunder #3. In fact I don't think it's a blunder at all, more a clever piece of marketing. Boxing's huge in the UK; bigger than a lot of people realise. There is a vast amount of wealth over there too, and boxing wants to tap into that. London being the capital, it's a perfect place to promote the fight. I think they've done a good job in creating a buzz over there, and people will be putting their hands into their wallets come fight night. You'll get a number of travelling fans also, spending their tourist dollars in Las Vegas. I don't think Mexico has the amount of same personal wealth as the UK, and even though it borders the US, I don't think there'll be the same amount of travelling fans either. All in all, as far as boxing fans spending money, I think the UK is number 2 in the world to the US. The only evidence I have is anecdotal, so if anyone can produce proper figures go ahead.
Could turn out to be a blunder by UFC. A lot of the UFC fans I've spoken with say they're just as interested in the Mayweather fight; they're planning on buying it too. I don't know enough about the UFC, but they're saying the card is weak.
