Whats the rush with angulo????

I really don't believe he was 100% when he fought Cintron and I think he would beat him in a rematch.

 

I completely agreed. I think a fighter being managed and brought up in competition can really affect a fighter's career. Hell, I think Hatton could have benefitted if he would have been groomed to fight guys like Mayweather and Pac. Angulo will bounce back, I still want to see him.

 

Well, I don't think Angulo would beat Cintron in a rematch at this juncture, but I agree that he was rushed. Not as badly handled as some, like a Maskaev, who had one of the most ridiculously handled careers I can think of, but definitely it was asking too much for him to fight a Cintron type so early. Good call. I don't know if what we saw was simply that alone but I think it had to at least be a part of it.

 

Hatton had almost 40 fights by the time he fought Mayweather.:huh

 

Dude, you gotta understand that there's a bunch of guys who just refuse to believe that Hatton just wasn't that good. The crazy thing about it was Hatton was coddled. He actually literally ducked Mayweather stating that he was not ready to fight him after he had already out-wrestled Tszyu. He went on to fight multiple fights against the likes of Urango, Collazzo, Moussa, etc. before he even stepped in there w/ Mayweather. So how was he not groomed?

 

agree he is going fast, compared to todays boxers, but whats wrong with that? As long as they don't take the Fernando Vargas route and put him up against someone who can really beat him up (like Tito vs Vargas) he should be developing nicely. Plus Cintron was a significant underdog in that fight and looked simply awful in his 'fight' against Martinez. Personally I would like to see more boxers like Angulo, Last Friday Night Fights was terrible with all the hot prospects knocking over some bums. It does nothing to get new fans.

 

Fighting Cintron is not the same as fighting a beast like Trinidad.

Even the most protected fighters career can be ruined by a loss. On the other hand, some fighters come back even stronger.Angulo's handlers seem to want to test him, and give him experience and seasoning.Look at Manny Paq. He even got knocked out a couple of times early on. In the long run, Angulo may benifet from his painful lesson against Cintron.

 

It does seem a few fights early to be pushing him. But at least he wasn't dominated. I think if Mayorga wouldn't have canceled it could have been worse.

 

Angulo is not a good fighter. Just a strong, stout wild dog in the ring. His defense is terrible. He reminds me of a more explosive margorito with less defense (and that's not saying much). He should just get it while he can because the top guys at 154 will smash him. I would have loved to see him a james kirkland get it on. I think Kirkland would KO him.

 

What? Because someone is not the flashiest technician they can't be a good fighter? He is very good and stiil needs some time to develop his skils. He relies on the advantages he was born with and makes the most of them. He is relentless, has a great chin, stamina, and alot of heart. All of those attributes make him a good fighter who can get a lot better.

 

Angulo got a lot of hype and was suppose to be the next big thing and got brought up quick because of it. HBO was setting him and Kirkland up for a collision course. He was somewhat exposed by Cintron but no worries I think he'll be fine it was a learning experience. I was impressed by him in his last fight.

 

despite having slow hands i still think angulo can someday become a good champion but only under the right circumstances. if i were his manager and was going to put him in a title fight i definitely wouldn't put him in with sergio martinez, cory spinks or dzinziruk. daniel santos is a better champion than those three but he's also a little slower too. still, i would pick santos over angulo if they ever fought!
