Morales vs Pacquiao 1 : Round 12

Pac won the round despite Morales' showboating. He got tagged several times. This round only confirmed Pac's tenacity and heart. He could have won by the if not for the vicious cut from headbutt that bothered him till the end of the fight.

Why can't you just be humble and give Morales the credit for beating such a quality fighter like Pacquiao nearing the twilight of his career?

There's a reason why Morales camp FORCED Pac to wear winning gloves even though he always wore reyes. There's a reason why Morales chose to wear Reyes in the 3rd fight even though he's always worn Winning...and the reason is not because gloves dont matter.

Is the gloves the sole reason why Pac lost? No. Did it have a negative effect on Pac's chances of winnning the fight? probably.

 

Erik Morales is a fighter, not a doctor, he won the fight outright. You wouldn't know this because I figure outside of Manny you don't watch a lot of Boxing, but many fighters throughout history suffer cuts and brave through the fight regardless. The vast majority of them go on to actually win the fight. Would you imagine that? I am not saying the cut did not effect Manny's performance, but as early as a round 1, it was apparent that Pacquiao was not going to steamroll an Erik Morales.

Double standards? I have an issue with people posting pictures of Erik Morales on the canvas, and then laughing about it. What the **** is that all about, Snell? Are you in grade school? You don't ever see me posting pictures of Manny Pacquiao when he was starched silly early on in his career. You know why? It's disrespectful and demeaning. All professional fighters who step into that ring deserve out respect and you make a complete mockery of the sport.

Manny Pacquiao lost the fight because Erik Morales had a huge heart in addition to an excellent skill set. He would not yield, and he simply outboxed Manny Pacquiao in the first fight. An incredible win, and the sole reason Morales has a legitimate claim to be rated above the likes of Marco Antonio Barrera in a P4P sense. He went down in history way before anybody knew Manny existed, but after that 12th round performance, he'll forever have my respect.

what about the gloves that pac always uses? a puncher must wear a puncher's gloves and not a pillow. pac was fighting at 130 for the first time also. :good

If the Manny Pacquiao enthusiasts only want to discuss the so-called controversy surrounding this fight, I'd suggest Snell go make a ******ed thread elsewhere. This thread is to appreciate the artistry that was displayed by both combatants in the 12th round of an all-time classic.

my point is, a poster said morales beat pac fair and square. yes i agree but the gloves must not be ignored. i'm not here to rain down on morales' parade. i just don't want some facts to be ignored. hell, i won a couple of bucks betting for morales back then.

 

That and the fact that Pac was blind in 1 eye, Pac came up in weight and had to wear what Steward described as "pillow gloves". Morales still took plenty of punches from Pac, who knows how his legs would have held up in the 9th and 10th round if thos epunches felt a lot heavier because Pac had his punchers gloves on.

Its a fact, Winning gloves are a lot softer than Reyes gloves. Winning gloves are for boxers with fragile hands, and Reyes for punchers.

Im not saying Pac would have won under different circumstances but it certainly isnt just some BS excuse created out of thin air. NOTE, Morales camp FORCED Pac to wear winning gloves, if it didnt matter, they wouldnt have.
