If this round makes you nod your head in approval, you are a Morales fan. If this round makes you shake your head in disapproval, you are a Barrera fan.
Bull****. I'm the biggest Barrera fan on ESB and I am also a huge fan of Erik Morales. What he did in that round was absolutely beautiful.
Here's the whole deal that makes this whole **** pretty stupid. If you want to argue that Pac would've won with his clitoris gloves then fine...but it's irrelevant in the discussion. We're not discussing punching power...we're discussing a decline in someone's abilities. That can't be switched by changing gloves, changing socks, changing jocks or anything short of rearranging the time space continuum. Consider that Morales had to turn back the clock, put on a career defining performance and somehow overcome a younger faster fighter for a SKIN OF HIS TEETH victory...and you'll see why most people think Morales was shot heading into that fight. The Raheem loss and the Barrera loss (where he wasn't himself) are just icing on the cake. AND IT DOES NOTHING to Pacquaio's legacy. Two wins over JMM, Two over MAB and two destructions of Ricky Hatton and Oscar De La Hoya are more than enough to rest his laurels on. Two victories over a faded Erik Morales are more or less the window shopping on his resume. That's the way it goes in boxing, the young lion feeds on the old gazelle. It's how **** works.
Haha i know. Then in the post interview Letterman askswhy did you switch? Morales just smiles and says "did you enjoy it?" Every boxing fan should be a fan of Morales:bbb
Pac was not prime ( not at his bestest) he was weight gained. He was cut, one dimensional, plus the gloves lessen the force on his blows..
That is absolutely true. Pac lost to a better fighter hat night. Hats off to Morales. No excuses accepted, be it the gloves, pre-primed , etc, etc. But it has to be both ways as well. There should be no excuses as well for the Morales losses otherwise it becomes bias. Some people however do insist on validating Morales' loss by stating that he was past his prime, etc. yet excuses could also be found, if we want to, in Pac's loss. I had been a Pac fan and had accepted Pac's loss to Morales without prejudice. But I had also think that he avenged that loss well. The measure of men's greatness is not at the moment when they stumble, but on how they arise from that. That loss made him better, just as the JMM fights made him better.
Fark me. After the first fight Morales lost all his following fights, first to raheem (thought that was a bad style match up though), then retired, so he was not in his prime anymore yet he still defeated PAc. After he defeated PAc he was compared to Vargas in that he could not be the best, then he went on his tear
Are you saying then that Morales was prime during the first fight, or past it already, then Past prime in the second fight. The Raheem fight is actually an aberration, as obviously Morales did not train or put his heart into it. The fight was at 135, yet he came in heavier than that. That alone tells you something.
Id say he was past his psychical prime, but still fighting well at that level. But for those *******s who say he won cos of a headbutt are smoking the pac roll:rasta
I scored that fight a draw, with Pac being at a huge disadvantage of having a nasty cut caused by headbutt (unfortunate out part of the game) and having to wear the winners gloves (in their next 2 fights Pac and Roach proved that gloves were a factor like what they've been saying all along).
very fun round. what can I say, Morales gave the fans what they wanted. It will go down in boxing records as one of the greatest defeats of all time. Gloves, head butt...doesn't matter. part of boxing.
