I agree with you Walk With Me. People who turn a blind eye to STYLES and the pure art of boxing are ruining the sport. These people are the ones that will slowly be drawn into the UFC take over if we continue to let this happen.

I ask people what does the term BOXING actually mean?

Look it up and ask yourself did Paulie show you that definition tonight.

Now I had Paulie clearly leading by at least 2 rounds. The 115-113 score card was expected.

But what I want to know how the hell does someone score the fight 118-110?

I want for him to explain to us fans by rewatching the fight how he scored it that way.

 

This we can argue with (Diaz winning). CaN,t argue with WWM'S point.

why would you not want to stick up for what happened tonight? we as boxing fans really need to unite and argue against this type of non-sense.... i mean honestly if you actually are ok with the scores that means that you dont mind a fixed fight and an illegal situation

i mean think about it

there are people who have went to jail for influencing the outcomes of sporting events .... so what is so different? this should be looked at as a major infringement....golden boy totally compromised what boxing is about.... if we were watching something that was pre-determined i wouldnt care

but we are dealing with peoples lives & pure competition that shouldnt be influenced by anything but the participants actions... this is really a joke

I was at the UIC Pavilion in the front row. About 12 feet from the ring last night. You do make some good points. Sometimes the action is at a bad angle, sometimes the ref blocks your view, sometimes you get distracted by this or that. While the judge with the 118-110 seems out of line, Diaz land 50 percent more power punches, and 90 percent of Paulie's jabs missed. I could see how he scored it that way. I'm certain some bias played a roll. Probably didn't help that Paulie was calling out the judges...

 

I'm okay with the scores, 118-110 is really hard to justify, but that's why we have 3 judges. 2 of them got it right... I didn't keep a hard score, but I think I had it 7-5 or 8-4 in rounds for Diaz.

This was no robbery, and it just goes to show that every close fight ESB goes nut with this damn robbery threads where everyone shits on boxing, claims they will never watch again, yada yada yada.. it get's really ****ing old.

 

Sadly, true boxing fans will continue to remain in this abusive relationship. Come the next fight, we will tune in to HBO, buy the PPVs, and fill the stands. I hope that the major boxing media outlets take notice of our outrage and make note of such a blatant robbery. However, I have a gut feeling that Ring Magazine will only make small mention of how many disagree with the scoring.

And BTW, expect to see this fight on Diaz's Greatest Hits HBO highlight reel with Lampley making comments that come nowhere to how the fight actually played out.

At least Showtime doesn't pull this type of **** on us.

 

We ought to be talking about the HBO announcer bias for Malignaggi.

 

The punch tracker shows that Paulie obviously didn't dominate the fight. He only landed 14 more punches. He landed 43 less power punches. Yes you can argue that the scoring isn't what you thought it should be but to say definitively that Paulie won the fight just isn't true.

 

Judge who scored it 118-110 must of been paying too much attention to the ring girls.

 

Thank you. That's what I'm trying to say. Very few people on this board have probably sat literally next to the judges at a televised boxing event. The Ward-Miranda fight was my first and probaby only time to do so. I was shocked by how difficult it was to score the fight. You can't see half the **** going on. And I'm 33 years old and have perfect 20-20 vision. Plus, every time Ward moved one of his hands, the crowd went crazy. I guess my point is the problem might be a combination of poor positioning, along with some corruption.
