After this ****ing travesty of a fight (due to the scorecards), I almost wanna turn around and start hating Diaz. But I know this isn't really his fault. The guy came to fight and let the chips fall where they may. I can't hate him for whatever the **** Golden Boy Promotions is pulling behind the scenes. I still think he's a good, exciting fighter. Paulie was just all wrong for him with his speed and reach advantage. Even though I cheered for Juan mostly because of his Mexican heritage, and I wanted him to win and he got the victory, the decision was bull**** and Paulie got robbed. The corrupt side of this sport really drives me bat-**** crazy, and just makes me want to not watch another boxing match ever again. But I love this sport too much to set it aside even if it hurts too much to watch them hand out these bull**** decisions time after time.
Same, Paulie was right to say what he did and even after the decision he congradulated Diaz. Juan is looking like a protected fighter right now.
Nah, Diaz is a good kid, And I want to see him do well. Plus he pretty much admitted that he thought he was losing the fight going into the 12th.
he's a great kid but eventually he will hit the wall.... truth be told he lost 3 out of his last 4 fights and the only fight he did win was against a C level fighter (katsidas) against 2 B level opponents & 1 A level opponent he lost fair & square.... eventually he will get knocked out or lose clearly and the truth will set him free
totally agree... that's why I said almost... Diaz had nothing to do with it. All the blame is on GBP and that's where I'm spitting out my haterade on.
I know I've posted more than my fair share of stuff on what happened tonight, but I don't think less of Diaz for it. What's also unfair about things like tonight is that Diaz's reputation suffers from being associated with it. In robberies like this, nobody wins. I can't and won't put the blame on Juan for doing his part in making the fight entertaining.
Diaz himself is a likeable guy. Its just annoying how HBO has overrated him his entire career. He came around 135 at the exact right time. Castillo, Corrales, and Floyd had all moved up. He feasted on journeymen, then a washed up Frietas... then made a 2nd rate fighter like Campbell look like an elite. His high will always be his effort vs Marquez, but after that KO, and after LOSING tonight(**** the judges)... he's no longer a top fighter. Maybe him and Campbell can rematch. Both of them are on the downside at this point.
