Who Won the Fight in your Original Scorecard? Diaz or Malignaggi?

this was his position in the pac-jmm fight. if most pac fans scored it close or a draw, then jmm must have won it. now if you will apply his reasoning to this fight, malignaggi must have won.

 

****....I havnt posted in the boxing forums in forever....but I had to lay a post down in here tonight not just because I thought Paulie got robbed but because he sorta hit a nerve when I saw the absolute frustration of a man who has been ****ed over by the sport he used to love.

116-112 Paulie Mallignaggi....and I really couldnt see it going farther the other way than a draw. Another sad day for boxing.

How anyone could see Diaz winning all but 2 rounds last night is bizarre to say the least.

Definitely one of the best examples of a gift/home town decision I've seen in recent times.

no he must win more rounds. punch stats mean nothing.

by your simple logic fighter b wins because he landed more punches when in fact he was outlanded in 3 of the 4 rounds.

can you see how that punches landed argument doesn't work. it is about winning the most rounds. not landing the most punches.

 

115-113 Paulie Malignaggi. I gotta tell ya something. I thought it was pretty even after the 7th but Paulie turned it boxing beautifully, evading Diaz's onslaught, and showing excellent ring generalship.

 

115 - 113 for Malignaggi... I was expecting a "draw" result for a hometown decision / robbery but damn they screw Malignaggi more...

Rounds 1,3,8,10,and 11 for Malinaggi.

Rounds 2,4,5,7,9,and 12 for Diaz.

Round 6 I had even.

My final score was 115-114 Juan Diaz.

Almost every round was competitve, and a few rounds were hard to score.

I do feel that Diaz was the deserved winner, but his win was marred by the incompetence of that one judge who had it 118-110, and even the 116-112 score was stretching it to wide for Diaz.

Diaz quite clearly imo landed the more telling blows of the fight and his work to Malignaggi's body was probably ignored by alot of people in this forum who had Malignaggi winning the fight.


Diaz imo should slide right back to lightweight.
He's not going to have much sucess at 140 lbs with the style he has, targeting bigger opponents.

 

this has been my point all along, is diaz best connects where the sloppy ones he landed to the body that were hard to see, and for every one of those sloppy body punches....paulie landed about 5 clean jabs, that were easier to score.....i had it 116-112 paulie....and i thought from round 7 on paulie pretty much owned the fight

 

Even to the head, Diaz' shots were more telling. They just had the force of his body behind those shots, while Paulie was shooting with his toes manuevering the ring.

When you're on your toes, the shots dont have quite the sting to them.

I thought they both fought good fights, while they stuck mainly too their gameplans.
Malinaggi's best weapon was the jab, and he did well circling and jabbing.


I did feel that for a fighter who was on his toes trying to slip and slide.....Malignaggi got hit flush quite often to the head.......which at the end for me was the difference in the fight.
