Who Won the Fight in your Original Scorecard? Diaz or Malignaggi?

this is one of my other points, paulie landed the cleaner more effective punches and was the agressor

punch stats even stated paulie out threw the pressure fighter diaz by 200!

 

I had it 115-113 Malignaggi. I could've seen a draw, or even possibly for a point the other way since Diaz was the home town boy, but I definitely was shocked when the 118-110 score was announced, I nearly turned off my television right there. I'm glad I didn't miss the Kellerman interview with Paulie though, rofl.

Harold Lederman says it before every fight on HBO, and we all should know here that boxing isn't judged on punches alone, there's just an emphasis on "clean, effective punching."

 

Malignaggi landed some clean sharp jabs and a few nice hooks and uppercuts as well, just not to the degree that Diaz was landing his.

Paulie just does'nt have heavy hands. He was'nt able to move Diaz.....but he was throwing a nice sharp jab with good snap to it tonight.......which why my scorecard was razor close, 115-114 Diaz.

 

Please dont discredit yourself by quoting Harold Lederman......he's as inconsistent a scorer as they come........how the hell he had Malignaggi winning round 9 which was clear as day for Diaz, is beyond my comprehension.atsch

115-113 Paulie.the judge who had Diaz winning it by 8 rounds should be barred from ever sitting ringside !!
Level after 10, i gave Paulie the last 2 rounds.

 

There was alot of shoeshine in that extra workrate by Malignaggi which makes it look like on paper like he was much busier then Diaz......but realitiy is that Diaz'
shots had alot more mustard behind them when you look at the whole punch output landscape as a whole.

Paulie lost the fight because he doesnt punch as hard as Diaz? Really? Hmmm, I didnt know close rounds go to the guy that has more power. I thought rounds were judged by ring generalship, cleaner more effective punching and aggression. So by your rules and standards Paulie cant win a fight unless he fights a flyweight.

Second of all, Paulie is to blame for fighting in Texas? As if he had a ****ing choice? Ring size picked by Diaz, weight picked by Diaz, ref and judges Diaz. Im shocked Paulie had the choice of what color robe he could wear. Instead of blaming Paulie for fighting in Texas, place the blame where it really lies, biased hometown judging.

 

i agree i thought diaz did appear to have more zip on his shots that he did land, i still got the impression that paulie was more effective, cleaner, and busier of the 2......the only clear diaz rounds that where solid connects for him was rounds 2,5,7....i thought the rest of his rounds were very sloppy and hard to score...while paulie's rounds were very clean...i thought paulie pretty much pitched a shutout rounds 8-12 with the exception of 12

 

Damn I was a fool. I thought Paulie was a bum with nothing to prove. He fought hard and proved me wrong. He belongs in the mix even as weak as a 1 handed fighter he is. God bless him with another hand.

I has paulie by 1 or 2 rounds. A draw would have been a bummer, but a win for Diaz is bull****. Diaz looked one dimensional and afraid against a guy who can't hit. Diaz does not react well to cuts. Pure and simple.
