Are people siding with Paulie becuase???

Oscar is a legend first of all, so no hate to Oscar. Paulie gained a fan in me last night cause he fought with heart and spoke from the heart against all odds. He looked better in the ring too. Before he would just blab like he had ADD or he was on coke or something but he showed heart and I respect him more.

 

The fact that he lost isn't bad, I had it a draw so obviously it could have gone either way. The point is he got hosed on the cards, in the ring with the ref and for a guy that likes to move the ring was the size of a postage stamp. All that stacked against him and he showed up and fought his ass off. Where was that against Hatton?

 

I don't like Malignaggi at all but he won that fight and had every reason to be mad as yell. He even called it before the fight.

 

It's a tough one. It was a close fight and I guess people are more pissed with the wide margins in a couple of the scorecards. Personally, the fight was close and could have gone either way. I had Paulie winning it but am also aware that Paulie will always have these problems because of his style and lack of power to score up extra kd points and take the fight out of the hands of the judges.

The real question is, if you had the power to move someone down the rankings and move someone else up toward the superfights how much of your decision would be based on entertainment value?

 

If Paulie didn't win that fight, then with Paulie's style, it's gonna be very hard to pick him over anyone in bigger fights, because he has a high punch output and no power, he landed more than Diaz and though he was caught a couple of times, I'd still pick him over Diaz quite comfortably. Don't care what anyone says, even if you think it was close, it was a robbery and Paulie won the fight. But its not that he lost but the margins he lost which were pathetic.

But on the bright side, win or lose he did gain a lot more popularity and surely there'll be bigger fights on the table for him. Whether he can outpoint his opponents on a judge's card is another issue altogether.

Well, time to play as him on Fight Night, outpoint Cotto for 8 rounds then get plonked on my arse not able to get up from the ridiculous knock out mini-game.

 

yes, the result isn't bad in of itself whats bad is that fight was over when the contracts where signed.

 

Yeah, but that's the bull**** that I'm tired of. The cards should have some semblance of what actually happened in the fight. I don't have a problem with someone giving the nod to Diaz, but there's no way anyone can say with a straight face that the score should have been anything more than 115-113 in his favor. When you see judges score fights like Van Hoy did last night, you know that they have the winner selected before the opening bell rings. I don't think **** like that should be excused just because it was a close fight.

 

Just because a fight is close doesn't mean their wasn't a clear winner. That's the kind of bull**** thinking that gives the judges leeway to pick the guy that is "supposed" to win.

There's no way that Diaz won a majority of those rounds. In the last 3 he was woefully ineffective. He's a good fighter but Paulie was the better man that night, and I really little interest in Paulie as a boxer.

 

i a a huge PM fan...the biggest on here...and he ****ing won...any way u cut it he imposed his will and his skill and made diaz look bad in about 7 rds and the others were fairly even besides maybe 2...noone can really feel he won that fight...come on...the magic man is back...see ya mcgirt

 

on what basis...paulie won rd 1 easy and 6 thru ten easy...diaz looked slow and confused the whole fight...paulie is better and whoever had it 10 to 2 in rds should be fired...that is a comp;ete embarrassment to the sport
