They both have no power so how was any punch meaningful? This fight had to be scored on most effective game plan. With Paulie movement, his jab right hand combination, and his defense he controlled the fight and he clearly won the fight. It's obvious you have a bias for Juan Diaz and a dislike for Paulie but if like 85% of the people who watched the fight thinks Juan Diaz lost and they are Juan Diaz fans it says something about the fight.
Thats my take on it. I had Diaz by 2 rounds, the 4 and 8 points cards were WAY off but the result itself wasn't a robbery IMHO.

Controversy sells! Its that simple. They're in Diaz' backyard, so if the fight is anywhere close TV makes sure that they throw some controversy around so that they have more to talk about. Going in, Malignaggi was already complaining that he was'nt going to get a fair shake.....so you knew that he was going to complain if it was even remotely close. The fight was close.....a 7-5 score in either direction was an acceptable score as quite a few rounds were hard to score. The only thing that ruined it was the two wide scores rendered by the judges........so to me, Malignaggi has a right to complain that he was'nt going to get the nod no matter what based on those wide scores......but what he does'nt have a right to complain about is that he won the fight outright which is so far from the truth. Did two of those judges have there scorecards filled beforehand? Yes! Did Malignaggi win the fight outright? Absolutely not!
Respect. That's the fight I saw.. I think it's because everyone fell for Paulie's pre-fight bull**** about being robbed, and they were watching for it, giving Paulie rounds he didn't win so they could be proved right (and Paulie proved right) about being robbed. I don't think people do that **** conscientiously, but that's gotta be what's taking place.

Dudes, let's put it this way, I was rooting for Diaz and knew as each round went by that he was gonna loose it. And this was just scoring the ****in' fight in my head. It WAS THAT CLEAR of a victory. Go back and watch the fight again and leave the alcohol in the ****in' refrigerator, please.
Didnt have beer or drinks to begin with Paulie planted a seed in the early going saying that he didnt like the judges and all these people fell for it.

Not having tremendous power doesn't mean your punches aren't meaningful. No the fight isn't scored on gameplan, the fight is scored in rounds based on clean and effective punching, effective aggression, ring generalship, and defense. In all but 3 rounds Juan had the more clean and effective punches, working Paulie's body, tagging him with hooks up stairs, and routinely landing counters over Paulie's jab. I thought Diaz had the better defense, catching most of Paulie's jabs on his gloves most of the night, and Juan was the only one being aggressive so when he actually got Paulie to stand he would beat him back. The only thing Paulie did was run away while flicking a jab and I don't count that as ring generalship, ring generalship is what B-Hop did to Pavlik and Calzaghe. Paulie didn't clearly win anything. He never did enough to win a round by his own actions, the only rounds I scored for him were the ones where he was able to keep enough distance not to let Juan setup, but he didn't even do this with a jab and combos off the jab, this was more because he was running and constantly turning. Paulie is a joke and he knows that he got beat by a 135 fighter so most likely his career at 140 is over.
