Yep, apart from SRR having a better resume (LaMotta is just as comparable to Bika IMO), I completely agree with you. :good
:yep:yep Hilarious thats really got em going, but at the same time there are definately some very valid points in there... Outstanding work :good
Yeah Its obviously a joke but it makes us Brits look like weve got an obsession with Calzaghe when most of us havent.
Well maybe some of us have but I'm not one of them. The only other reason I can think of is that hes the best fighter weve had from this generation so alot of people go overboard defending him.
It appears that you are serious from the amount of thoughts , facts , beliefs and fantasies you dedicated for it. so you'll get a serious answer : Dawson will beat Calzaghe and would have done that since his first win over tarver , but dawson's peak and calzaghe's retirement are close : they are not exactly from the same generation. dawson is the braver of the two , much less picky , just look at calzaghe's resume in dawson's age for comparison. maybe calzaghe would have been to outbox marciano for a few rounds , but unless it's not a 4 or 6 rounder - marciano by tko. calzaghe and marciano have an about an even fight untill marciano slips into range and batters calzaghe from close range until submission/loss of consciousness/ referee's/doctor's merciful interference , and calzaghe'd never be the same. but we don't have to go that far for that - it could have been achieved by facing collins, eubanks, watson, benn, mcclellan, mccallum, jackson in their primes - just about 4-5 fights against some combination of these guys , and calzaghe's career was shorter and his brain less attached to his skull. about ali - only because of the big size diference - ali will stop him , although a late one. robinson and duran were smaller than calzaghe so he could have beaten them. with robinson it would have been a difficult fight for him for sure , if he would have won at all. with duran also difficult , but i believe calzaghe should have been regarded the favorite against him. and neither calzaghe nor hearns had concussive power - hearns demolition of duran was a rarely well leveraged and accurate punch that essentially relied on his huge physical advantage. calzaghe had a good chin , but not granite - he visited the floor more than one time and didn't fight any murederous puncher/significantly bigger oponent to check it really. think about a trilogy with a prime tarver - he wouldn't have finished it much better than roy , believe me , even in his (calzaghe's) uncertain 'peak'. think about him versus the annoying (style-wise) griffin who gave toney, michalczewski and jones big problems. had jones not punch him while down , griffin had a realistic chance of winning on points and also against joe. think of him vs. wright. difficult for sure. and wright is even smaller and griffin not so much heavier. and much shorter. veit was the bummest of bums , although a big one. not a chin , not power (for his size) . brahmer also showed it after calzaghe and most of today's top 168 would have shown it and the rest merely beating him on points.
He's MIGHT be an aTG but not GOAT.. no ****ing way. I think in 10 years he'll be appreciated more than he is now but a lot of it depends on the career of Kessler. If Kessler wins the super 6 and unifies the LHW division (which is hotting up imo) Calzaghe is for me an ATG
