I think they should now take Jacobs back a step, let him try to iron out the kinks against lesser foes in 8-rounders.

He definitely has talent and I hope they won't rush him because they see a weak division in front of him. I don't necessarily see superstardom, but he strikes me as the kind of fighter who will be a good boxer-type with the ability to grind out wins in a variety of fights.

At the minimum, I'm definitely going to give him a couple years before I pass judgment. I just hope his matchmaking doesn't become too ambitious.

how old is he, like 21? He's got time to make his step up. He should probably ink a top 10 guy next and then see if he can get a top 5 guy.

Jacobs has only been a pro for 2 years. After 2 years as a pro Alexis Arguello sported a record of 6-2, and had yet to face an opponent who actually had a win on his record! We all know how El Flaco turned out!

Why would anyone even expect Jacobs to be ready for a top 5 guy?

Out of all fighters he put him in with Smith? Thats pretty bad management imo.... He shouldn't of even fought Smith in the first place.

I could see Jacobs winning on points or a late round TKO against Sturm.

Funny thing is, a bunch of people in this forum criticized me for saying Ishe would be a tough opponent. I thought is was a good idea to mix up the styles. Jacobs could have performed better, maybe, but people are acting like he lost. He got the win, and now it's time to move on.

"If he's good enough he's old enough" Unfortunately Jacobs is cleary not good enough so the excuse he's not old enough will be used for the foreseeable future.
Arguello was then,, this is now,, and the game has changed..Sorry but I don't buy that!
If Jacobs were half the fighter he's "supposed" to be he would have dispatched the aukward, pumped up welter that is Ishe Smith..
Com'on man quit making silly comparisons trying to put spin on this ****,, it's plain to see he aint all that.
Amir Khan gets alot of stick on here from me included but at least he's stepped up recently and looked decent, he's only 22 also if you hadn't noticed but look whats expected of him. Whys it different for Jacobs?
David Haye fought a British, EBU, WBO, IBO champ in his 11th pro fight and very nearly pulled it off. He lost granted but it never did him any harm and it shows the faith that was put in his talent,,Ask yourself do jacobs handlers really believe in his highly touted talent?
I've seen Jacobs last 4 fights now and i've seen nothing but averageness, I've said it since Ifirst saw him fight and he's shown me absolutely zero to change my opinion on him so I will stand by what I said from the start,, he's nothing special has been massively over hyped and wont amount to much.

    IMO lol :bart

Nathan Clevely is the epitome of "averageness".

    Tell me otherwise.
