Less than half of the tickets to UFC 102 have been purchased....

  1. :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

I was originally hoping to go to this event since it's the first in Portland. However, after discovering all of the $50-200 dollar tickets were in the nosebleed section and that those particular price ranges were sold out during a "pre-sale" (which you had to join through ufcfightclub.com for $75), I bailed on it. Looks like the MMA fans in Oregon have as well (only 9,000 of 20,000 tickets have been sold).

The price is outrageous. The Oregon economy is one of the worst in the country (12% unemployment rate) and the taxes on such events are terrible. They picked the worst time to put on an event in Portland.

Not only that, the card sucks. The main event is between two fighters that are well past their prime and the undercard isn't very exciting either (except maybe Marquardt and Maia).

Unless they drastically drop the price in the next few days, this event is going to be a real stinker and the PPV buys will probably be the lowest in years.

Yep, I heard about this. Ticket sales are pretty expensive, they are Las Vegas expensive and you cant expect to get away with that in other cities.

  3. Exactly.

    Not really surprised. It's a **** card.

I suppose those prices don't help either.

Well first off its not a **** card and secound im sure Oregon would love to support Couture and Leben who fought out of that state for years but noboddy in this economy wants to pay an arm and a leg for an average seat when they can grab the same people they where going to the fight with a buy the PPV.

  6. We DO want to support Couture, Leben and Ed Herman. But overall, the card is less than spectacular and VERY overpriced. You're right though, why pay an arm and a leg to get **** seats when you can sit at home with a good view, a bunch of friends and beers that AREN'T $8 bucks.

If 10,000 are sold in a 20,000 stadium then they should move em all forward and it will look okay. They can do some special deals to get em sold.

There might be an issue of UFC doing too many shows now and people don't have cash for the event or PPV.

They should've presented this one on Spike....the card is lacking a real main event.

The truth is zuffa puts on **** cards 80% of the time. And their production sucks.

I know some people are fanatically committed to zuffa, but how anyone (even these people) think this "ufwwe" stuff has surpassed the Pride events baffles the mind.

You are never lacking a main event when born headliners like Couture and Nogueira are fighting. You look back in the history of MMA and Boxing the majority of the fights featuring 2 past their prime stars are usually very entertaining.

I'm interesred in seeing what Couture and Nog bring to the table in the twilight of their careers. The Marquardt and Maia fight looks interesting too.

That being said, it's not worth paying $200 for shitty seats!

I'd pay anything to see two legends such as Couture and Nogueria. It's not just a fight - it's history. Remember the Thrilla In Manilla? A fight that came well after the two fighters involved were considered past their prime.
