Seen his fight with Sung Kil Moon today. I have also seen his fights with Santos Lacier Really like this guys style very good defensivly has great movement and excellant head moveement which makes for smooth viewing. I think he lacks power but has a decent 1-2 and a jab and really digs in body shots. Also hes always in a good fight from what i have seen. Thoughts on this guy? any fights i should watch?
Can't you any specific examples but he has been claimed as a pretty big puncher by others on this site and Moon kinda' stifles/takes a lot of his punches and make them look like not much IMO. How about Roman vs Kaokor Galaxy Pater?? Am I right to think Watanabe was a little bit past prime when Roman beat him? Can anyone clarify this I always thought he peaked between 81-84??? Might be (and probably wrong) but thanks in advance :good
All i have seen is the Lacier and Moon fights not 2 fighters to guage the power of somebody. But he didnt seem to hurt them. All i have seen of Galaxy is him fainting So cant really comment
Nob Watch the 2nd Moon fight, out of all the people I know you will be seriously, seriously impressed. WAtch the 1st one first though, then you can really appreciate how Kaokor took the lead in the rematch. His fight with Gomez is another good one all one my thread:good Seriously though, a lot of others on here can give you a better write-up of Roman. I'm still to really get into him like I have a lot of other little guys, though I'm sure he's someone who deserves serious review. Konadu is another one that I was introduced to. Very, very impressive, not sure whether I can find all the right parts that correlate to his fights with Moon on the tube, but there's definitely parts on there I've seen.
Roman was a very capable boxer with a good jab, he could be hit though from what i have seen, and as good a boxer as he seemed, when he unleashed the fury he might have been better. Haven't watched him for a while though. I think i asked Mantequilla and Sweet Scientist about the fight with Watanabe, as i watched both men and was under the impression Watanabe was the better all rounder and ring general, one of them i'm sure told me that they were under the impression (without making excuses) that Watanabe could have done better.
i have the Konadu fights with Moon on DVD so no worry about that Ill check them (Galaxy) out this weekend when i have some more time. I better be impressed or your hel responsible Thanks for that Roman was hittable but vs Moon at points hes slick as hell like a better Ken Buchanan
Just watched Roman's fight with Konadu. He didn't look impressive in that one. Slick in parts but for me this was a clash of styles where Roman couldn't deal with Konadu's power. He was in survival mode throughout after going down about 6 times in the early rounds. Constant holding in the way only a good pro can do it. Referee had a nightmare but I think maybe he was partly to fault as he nver really give them a chance to fight there way out these clinches. You might want to watch this out of curiosity but I was tempted to turn it off by the 10th. Scorecards massively wide in favour of konadu but accurate.
Yeah, and I meant Vasquez not Lopez :good Teeto, don't you have to make a Buchanan vs Armstrong thread because you omitted Kenny? What with Amrstrong being the runner-up? Needless to say, I'd pick Armstrong.
I thought i was supposed to make Buchanan against the winner wasn't it? And we already know how that one plays out. But hey Flea, the tourney's not over yet, who knows who'll win?!
I was only kidding about the Ken Buchanan comment i made. Man was one of the best boxers in the division's history though (lightweight of course).
definntly love Ken. His masterclass over Navarro (i think) was amazing albeit Navarroo had about 2 weeks notice but he was in shape.
I do not know if the first fight is on tape, but the rematch is. I would recommend Roman/RojasII. Sugar Baby Rojas was meant to be the real deal, he was given a massive Humberto Gonzales-esque build up, but this excellent little Mexican may of been in top form beating... sorry ruining Rojas.
