Not all of us. I tend to agree that many in the US seem to think that only African-Americans are legit HW champions, but I see that many of the Euro are damn good at various weight classes including HW. It's just that it seems like there aren't as many really good heavies as there were a couple of decades ago.

I equate Arreola to me swinging a sledgehammer and wearing a lead weight vest. If I hit you, you go night night. If I don't, well then that's a different story because now I have to move around and try to swing this thing again. His weight is both his friend and enemy.

Good analogy, but I'm not so sure his power is all that. I mean I know he has pretty good pop, but is he more powerful than Wladimir when he lets loose with a good straight right? I just don't know. He has to do it against a top-rated guy before I buy into it.

Take a guy like Frazier. You think he was any better than for example Sultan Ibragimov?

Smokin' Joe? I think he was better than Sultan, but not by some huge margin. Frazier was pretty fooking good. Now I think Sultan was better than some of the other HW's of that era, though - Jerry Quarry comes to mind right away.

    Pros

    1. Underrated boxing skills. (Far better technical in terms of skills and ability than Sam Peters).

    2. A fairly solid chin.

    3. Tough-minded and willful. Has the relentlessness to overcome adversity.

    4. Strings combinations incredibly well for a 'big fat guy.'

    5. Great power

    Cons

    1. Easy to hit. His defensive is weak and he needs to re-affirm head-movement.

    2. Arguably lazy & unmotivated (Claims he can go the distance but has weight troubles. His training doesn't seem enough).

    3. Slow-plodding.

That about covers it. Arreola needs to train big time and come in peak condition and he has to work in his defense otherwise he'll eat a lot of shots. Either way he seem tough and relentless. He can punch and take a good punch. Most importantly, he strings combinations far better than any recent HW with that kind of power to take on any of the Klit brothers. That's his biggest strength.

To answer the question he is in the middle. Far from a monster and far from complete hype. And no, he didn't eat my computer.

Ibragimov is far from today's best, yet prime for prime he would beat Frazier, IMO.

Can't really vote in that absurd poll, but Arreola is a run of the mill contender who will be exposed for what he is by Vitali Klitschko.

Well, getting a title shot when you haven't even faced a top-10 (maybe even top-20) fighter seems a bit like a hype job.

I can, amongst many other modern day heavies.
