Now before you start saying its to early for bellew, Beibut Shumenov on only his 8th has just fought for a world title, him and bellew are both the same age and both were brillant amatures. Bellew is now on his 9th fight. so who takes him and cloud?
Look at the level of competition Bellew and Shuenov have had. Shumenov was fast-tracked to a world title and Bellew is still only on the domestic scene. Even Bellew himself would admit that it is too early for a fight against Cloud.
The problem is its too early for Bellew. Shumenov did it but he fought experienced fighters like Montell Griffin, Byron Mitchell and Mendoza to build up. Bellew hasn't even fought a top class British LHW.
i guess i'll continue the theme....too early for Bellew. The biggest mistake people make is 1.comparing fighters comp saying if he beat him then he should beat him, and 2. not realising fighters develop at different stages by saying if "A" can do that at that age then surely "B" can do it too. THIS IS BOXING...DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT. my friend.
Yeah i forgot bellew hasnt even been in against a top 20 rated lightheavy, maybe when bellew fights some decent fighters then we can talk about cloud?
Well, I'd put him in with Tony Oakey next just to see where he is compared to a certain other British light heavy.
I know what is warren waiting for? bellew has got to step up and fight some decent fighter beating up these part time car washers isnt going to do him any good no more, bellew was a world class amature 3 time aba champion, with his amature back ground he should be moved faster, also i heard tony saying on here the other day that he was holding his own with cuban super middleweight prospect garcia in sparring
Bellew has still not gone against the better domestic fighters so the fight is well off yet. Maybe when Woods ruins Cloud the fight will look easier.
I really like Bellew. But Cotto20 this is a pitiful thread. Shumenov had bundles of amateur experience and fought tough guys early. I don't even think his opponent was as dangerous as Cloud.
fleaman I genuinely think this Cotto lad has some sort of problem. he was the one who started the thread about farnell as a trainer and it seems to me that he's having little digs here about the car-washing opponents etc etc ? Maybe not but it does seem that way 'maybe when bellew fights some decent fighters' this seems like a bit of a dig to me ?
I rate bellew very highly mate one of the most excting amatures i have ever seen live! just wish warren would see that bellew is good enougth to be moved up faster! and arnie has done well for him self geting alls these world class fighters so fast my only point was he is not proven. And bellew would give cloud a better fight than you guys think
