this is bang on my friend and i appreciate the honest and intelligent perspective. BOTH are great fighters and we're allowed to have our favourite without shitting on the other

And the people who are fans of both Calzaghe and Jones.

Surely I can't be the only one who liked both of them....

ya'll dismiss joe with he he fought jones and hop past their primes yet step up and tell me you won't watch a jones vs hop fight today. don't lie. you all wanna see that.
to that poster said don't talk about joe he's retired. thats why i talk about em. it's ok to talk about the retired fighters. it's the active ones must keep mum about. you'll never get my pick less you pay.

Joe said he wouldn't fight RJJ because he was shot..then turned right around and fought him:lol:

Not a surprising move for a guy that fought the LOSER of an elimination bout:rofl

Does any other Brits remember back in the days of Collins, Benn and Eubank....that James Toney supposedly wanted to fight Benn or Eubank? And even wanted to come to the UK to do it? Never happened.

Anyone else remember when Benn beat McClelland, and supposedly RJJ was coming over to the UK to fight Benn to avenge his friend's loss? Never happened.

And on RJJ still, remember Collins wanted to fight him and even went to the extent of going to Jones's house - Ali/Liston style - to try and get the fight? RJJ didn't want to know.

I think the Americans have some overly deluded picture of how people are supposed to come to the US to fight, and yet it's ok for them to never venture out of their own comfort-zone. And they seem to forget that Joe came over to the US and fought Bhop and RJJ, and not the other way round.

And it always amuses to read how apparently **** Joe is as a boxer, and yet still wins against a couple of US legends who obviously can still box - remember they had Joe on the deck each? Oh dear.

:patsch Mr. Warren the wanna be ''Donald Trump'' of boxing's promotional business made sure his cash cow would only fight the Omar Sheikas of this world while Jones still was at his best and held more than just a bull**** WBO belt for most of his reign.... Ya musta foggat !!

Calzaghe is a GREAT fighter but unfortunately his promoter gave him too many insignificant fights throughout his career !

The P4P best doesn't chase contenders to their house, they should pursue him on his turf.

Benn admitted that he never wanted the Jones fight after McLellan for fear of what Jones would do to him for doing that to his friend.

That's not me hating on Benn, Benn at that point was past prime anyway and Jones was coming into prime - if Jones from 1995 could have fought Benn from 1989-1990 then it would have been interesting, but Jones V Benn in 1995 would have been very ugly for Benn.
