I wanted this fight a few months back, but again, it would be a step backwards for Botha at this point. However, I would still love to see it.:bbb
Well hey unless Botha is going to fight a guy in the top 20...why not Seldon? Golota seems tied up with Adamek and I doubt people are that interested in Botha vs Mike Minto or Botha vs Taurus Sykes someone else in that capacity.
True enough. Sykes was just an example of a tune-up fight. I would like to see Botha fight against Odlanier Solis. That fight was supposed to happen a few times, but Solis got "injured" every time, or some sort of travel/visa trouble or some bs like that.
I think people are taking a little too much stock in Botha's recent win over Hoffmann, which I suppose isn't such a big deal considering the fact that nobody's actually saying that he's a title contender. Botha's a likeable guy and he's given us some pretty good fights over the years so I can see why people want him to do well.
I'm all for the 90s HW generation and Botha is a cool guy, but to be honest, even if he had a decent win against Hoffmann, he really didn't look that good in that fight. His power bailed him out. Maybe it was just the ring rust, because he got some timing back in the late rounds of that fight, but I can't see Botha getting back to the top of the division. Not even in this weak era. But he should continue to fight some Timo Hoffmann type opponents and take it from there.
Hey thought just came to me after reading a thread. What about a fight with Ruiz? On the undercard of the Haye Valuev bill? Think would be a good step foward for him and if he could win would be back at least as a contender?
He could fight a guy like Timor Ibragimov. A decent but not overly dangerous fighter that could help Botha move up in the rankings should he beat hm.
