The dodgy American scored the fight to Holyfield. Simple. YOU should think before posting.

thats all i needed to read.
you fight on the bigger stage, you're known more world wide - and it's the job of the other guy to come find you.

unless he has a fear of flying that disappears once he's past his prime.

stop making excuses for a fighter who could have made this fight but didn't.

instead of being dismissive why don't you back up your point of view?

I've not read this thread - i dont need to and cant be bothered. But heres the truth. He beat B Hops. And if you believe what Hops claims - that he is still in many peoples pound for pound list. Well Calzaghe's gotta rank higher. If he dont its bias.

Yeah, and the British judge scored it a draw.

And of the 3 American judges for Calzaghe/Hopkins, 2 of them scored it to Calzaghe.

Great examples of "yank judges voting for yank fighters", well done, ****ing ****** :good

Is there really something new in this thread that we haven't already heard a million times before? I know both their records. I know they fought. I know Joe came out on top - landed more punches on Hopkins than ANY FIGHTER EVER HAS. He beat a legend. And JC himself is a LEGEND. Yeah they were both old and past their peak but still JC won. Fair n square. And in many fans minds B Hops is still a pound for pound fighter today....yet the same hypocrites wont acknowledge the man that beat him.

then why do calzaghe fans keep having to justify his career based on what other fighters achieved? and why he had to beat them after their prime?

Ah yes, the last resort of the hater - a game of semantics...when does 'dominated' not mean 'dominated' and so on...suck it up :yep

Accepting a $3million offer to fight Calzaghe one day, coming back the next and demanding $6million...what does that tell you? :hey

it tells me that fight was waiting to happen with a lot less heartache if joe overcame his "fear of flying" - something hatton never needed to say on his way to getting his dream fight with floyd.

Hey my friend, ive no beef with you,you are one of the few posters on here that talk sense. This subject has been done to death, and ive posted my views several times before.Theres a hierarchy on ESB and its post counts that count (excuse the pun) so whether im qualified to give an oppinion or not is irrelevant in the eyes of a lot of posters,so i see no need to impress these people. I dont talk out of hate or dislike,i try to be objective and see the whole picture.I don't like BHop as a person, but i resect his accomplishments, but the facts are there for all to see Calzaghe beat him and instead of being a man and acknowledging the victor BHop whined like a spoilt brat.I'm no fan of Calzaghe but he deserves a lot of recognition for what he's acheived in his career, even if it was 5-6 years too late.:good
