if calzaghe is "allowed" ot be prime the fight would have happened... how hard would it have been for calzaghe to conquer mediocre challengers to jones?
Then you'd say wrong. Jones would stop Calzaghe sometime after the 8th round. Good chance it would go the distance in fact.
That's fine, just tell me what version of Calzaghe is considered to be a "prime" Joe C??! Is it when he ascended the ranks of ring magazine recently to #2 after beating up a washed up RJJ and past prime Hopkins? Or is it when he was only fighting in England against the epitome of tomato cans when warren was only scheduling cupcake fights for him?! The problem with Calzaghe is, no one really knows how good he really was in the late 90's/early 200's because he fought NOONE...wheras RJJ was the P4P king for nearly a decade, albeit im not too impressed with his resume either mainly based on the fact that the divisions he cleaned out didnt have ATG's on the list (not including toney or a green Bhop.)
Dude, I'll pick the RJJ who whipped on Montell in their rematch (after getting thats silly DQ) to KO Joe C in 3 rds, period.... I think you're too enamored by Calzaghes skewed undefeated record to look at it a bit more objectively...RJJ was an offensive machine, granted his defense was lax at best, but his athleticism made up for any of his shortcomings...
Thats fine too, just go over to the brit forum and see the ring article where a 14-0 calzaghe is talking about jones who is on top of the boxing world. Yes thats right--14-0! People are quick to spout off crap about joe going over over there to fight jones??? yeh ok very realistic. Just see what Roy has said about calzaghe and how highly he rates him. He already knows. Im not saying Calzaghe would beat Jones but hed be the best hed have ever faced anyhow imo.
lol calzaghe couldnt ko a one dimensional lacy and a old roy... and ur saying calzaghe by ko lol lol... roy would have pounded calzaghe for 12 rounds till cal was black and blue in his prime
im not answering your crap. I dont even get what your talking about. Ill just leave a quote from Roy on Joe. He said: "Joe is the best pound-forpound fighter fighter after Floyd Mayweather. He's a Hall of Famer. "It was unfair when people tried to run him down. Most of the names he fought in Europe were real names. He didn't just beat Jeff Lacy, he knocked the you-know-what out of him." WOW there you have it. Take it like a man. Roy just answered your question for me:rofl
Yeah, because I'm such a big Calzaghe fan, right? Jones' defense was "lax at best"? Are you joking? If you come out with **** like "Jones would KO Calzaghe in 1", no one will take you seriously. Calzaghe had a very good chin, it usually took Jones a few rounds to find his rhythm, and with the possible exception of Virgil Hill, Jones never stopped anyone of Calzaghe's calibre. My prediction is, that he probably would stop Calzaghe, but it would be deep into the fight, and just as likely an outcome would be a Jones UD.
Roy Jones Jr scores 2 knockdowns and goes on to win a clear decision nothing against Calzaghe but at his peak Jones was simply to good
We're talking at their respective primes, now granted the 1 rd comment i made was a bit of an exaggeration, but i stick to my guns about it, RJJ in 3 rds...if it makes you feel any better, 5-6 rds tops...Obviously, there's too many variables to factor in when trying to hypothesize a fight between 2 guys when their primes were in diiferent year periods....I just don't see any version of Joe C able to hear the final bell with someone like Jones....Personally i like Calzaghe; i think he's entertaining to watch even though he has ZERO power, but you can't compare these 2 men at all..Jones is in another stratosphere buddy....
