This is my opinion about this fight:

    - this fight is irrelevant, it's useless... what does this fight proves to boxing?

    - it's a mismatch fight... Floyd has all the advantages, a 4 to 1 heavy favorite...

    - it's a tuneup fight... can't Floyd get a better tuneup opponent among contenders and prospects at WW or someone from Jr. WW if Floyd still wants someone smaller? why a LW? ...

    - why Floyd picked JMM? is it because JMM called him out? is it because JMM gave Pacquiao some close fights? :-D these reasons are laughable...

    - its promoters portrayed this as a "megafight"... is one party be a 4 to 1 heavy favorite in a megafight? a megafight is supposed to be an evenly matched fight (or close to even) among very good boxers...

The above are not to discredit the Floyd-JMM fight and promotion... Just honest opinions...

NOTE: JMM's own trainer, Nacho Berestain is just being honest about this fight too... Nacho only gave JMM 45% chance of winning - meaning Nacho expects Floyd to win this fight which is the most probable outcome... Nacho further said that JMM lacks the speed to defeat Floyd which is also very true... Floyd is much much faster than JMM...

As I've said in the past, this is a scripted fight! GAYWEATHER wins by SD. He didn't lose his W inspite of ring rust and JUANA will say he lost to the real NUMBER 1, but only by a point. They all made money (?) and nobody lost it's pride. The real loser are the CLUELESS NUTHUGGERS who would soon say, "THAT'S THE BEST TECHNICAL FIGHT OF THE CENTURY". :hat

Well it cant be useless if hes training for pac man and whats the best way to train for pac man? fighting a common oponet. A sparring session with pacs nightmare is perfect for floyd training to fight pacman

anything less than a TKO is disasterous for Team Mayweather.

Mayweather is difficult enough of an opponent. When he has a size advantage, it's too much to deal with, even a master like Marquez.
Props to Marquez for taking the fight and giving it a shot.
I'd rather see Mayweather fight Mosely, because Shane has the best chance .
Maybe thats why Floyds fighting Juan Manuel instead.

hmmnnn... Floyd's tuneup fight in preparation for PAC?? Floyd's September 19 sparring session with JMM will not be the perfect preparation for a future PAC fight... Remember PAC is a southpaw... a lefty... PAC is also much faster than JMM... PAC and JMM are totally different boxers stylewise...;)

I totally agree... This is a LOSS-LOSS fight for Floyd... If he wins, he still losses since he will not gain anything from it... If he losses, it's a BIG disaster...

im gonna laugh if marquez pulls out the upset. hes definitely a tougher guy than anyone floyd has faced (with the possible exception of baldomir), so it should be a good fight no matter what happens.

it may not be quite the superfight theyre tryin to hype it up to be, but it will still be a big, entertaining fight nonetheless.

I too agree with many of your statements but look at this from another point of view.
Who has given Pac his hardest fights up to date? Stylistically who is the worst fighter for Pac? JMM is the perfect puzzle on how to defeat pac and Floyd knows it. If hes able to sink in what he learns in his next fight hell be that much closer to figuring out Pacs style and IMO break him completely and shut his offense down.

That's the big question mark when this Floyd-JMM fight was announced last May 2nd just hours before the PAC-Hatton megafight... Why Floyd is not fighting Mosley?? Mosley was desperately seeking a big fight... Mosley and JMM are both Golden Boy boxers... Why JMM was given the preference to fight Floyd??

As what you pointed out, maybe it's Floyd's decision to cherrypick the smaller, older, slower boxer which is JMM...

The only good thing I can see is if Marquez pulls off a massive upset. I'd just love to see the look on Mayweather's face when he realises hes lost and the look on Pacquiao's face when he realises he has to fight Marquez again. I think even that outside chance makes this worthwhile.

I can't see JuanMa winning... he's a little too slow and little too small.

But WTF?, Even though it's not the super-fight they try to sell it as, Marquez is still a pretty damm good "opponent" for Floyd's 1st fight coming back after a long lay-off.

Marquez is one of the smartest and most skilled fighters Floyd has ever faced.

I'm looking forward to seeing how he carries the added weight... and looking forward to seeing how Floyd looks after the lay-off.

I admit Mayweather has gotta be seen as a pretty heavy favorite here, but it could wind up being an interesting fight,,, not to mention its shaping up to be a great card overall... especially if they get Valero/Soto on there!

I don't know about anybody else, but I'm looking forward to this card.

    *And no, I don't work for G.B.P.
