Ok don't hate on Freddy. Cotto and Pac have the same ko power in their punches. Cotto can take a better shot though, obviously he is the bigger man. Cotto is slower and Pac is faster. Cotto is not a technician don't kid me, but he ain't no slouch either. He just doesn't have the footwork and never did. That being said, Cotto IS on the decline. If you have ever watched the guy fight at 140, its like watching two different fighters. The Cotto at JWW would have made this fight a blockbuster hit and would probably kd pac a couple times. Nevertheless Cotto isn't and won't be at the top of his game, and I see Pac stopping him late.
Of course beating Cotto would be a good win. Considering how badly Pac beat both DLH and Hatton, I consider those victories good wins also. .......but my point is that Roach is letting it be known without coming out and outright saying it, "we're on the prowl for hasbeen's or at the very least fighters on the decline." When Roach say's something like that, he or anyone of Pac's fans should'nt get upset when fans in forums like this point that out after Pac has downed another one of Roach so called "deteriorated fighter." .......Roach should keep his mouth shut is my point.
LOL, so now we have an excuse. Cotto is on the decline because Roach said so. If PAC beats Cotto it's not because of what PAC did in the ring but because something Roach said. It's not PAC dominating his opponent like noone else has ever done before to the other boxer but because Roach said something. Regardless of what a trainer says, its the boxer who has to perform in the ring. Just last year this fight would have been a 100 - 1 odd in favor of Cotto. Now he's not only the underdog but a boxer in decline because Roach says so.
He's not into manufacturing a legendary fighter using some made up stories and exaggerations. He's just telling it as he sees it. If you think what Roach says will lessen his fighter's ATG standing, then don't watch his fights anymore.
Definitely true.... Cotto is not old, PAC is even older than Cotto... But Cotto might be in a decline tho... after those recent ring wars with Judah, Mosley, Margacheato and Clottey... .
And I have to admit that while Cotto is a super dangerous fighter and he's naturally bigger and stronger compared to MP, he seems to have lost that aura of invincibilty in himself that fighters with a high KO ratio and zero losses have. And the Margarito loss was tough, not only physically, but mentally as well. I think MP, when he faces Cotto, will be the most vulnerable in the first 2 rounds, and if he goes past that easily, he should probably be very careful around the 6th to 8th round.
That's only one thing for PAC to exploit... Cotto is still the bigger, younger, stronger and more skilled boxer compared to PAC... You just have to appreciate how even or close to even this match-up is...
I think Cotto knows that he can hurt Pacquiao unlike Margarito and Clottey and it will boost his confidence up. Cotto seems frustrated when he's unable to slow his opponents down even with his best shots.
And that's what makes MP dangerous, since the start of his career. Nearly all of his opponents thought, as they were facing him on top of the ring.. "Meh, he's too raw.." "Meh, he's too unskilled.." "Meh, he's got a glass body.." "Meh, he's got a shaky chin.." "Meh, I can take his shots.." "Meh, he too small.." Then BAM! They suddenly see themselves down on the canvas. I agree that Cotto is intimidating, though, and he might just be too big for MP to KO.
I don't know about lessening Pacquiao's ATG standing, but he surely does give people something to use in arguments about how Pac's potential win over Cotto isn't as significant as people would think, before Roach made that claim. He is taking away from Pac's potential victory no matter how you see it, bula.
I do think what Roach says lessen's a Pac victory Other trainers call opponents hasbeen's all the time......alot of the time its a way to get into an opponents head......but with Roach, he goes beyond that. He specifically points out why he believes it to be true and backs it up with examples. When Pac gets the victory, its all about Roach having pointed the the flaws and deterioration out to Pac, and it does take away from Pac's victory.......its as if Pac is'nt at the level to be able to solve and make ring adjustments for himself. When Roach speaks, I fully get the flavor that he's crediting himself just as much if not more than he credits Pac. Not many trainers that I've heard speak do that to their fighters. But my friend, I'm glad to see Pacster do his thing and do the damage anyways!:yep:good Listen, just as an example, we're already seeing Roach speak of Mayweather being alot more easier fight for Pac than some of the other matchups available for Pac at the moment...... .....on the flipside, not once has Nacho Beristein spoken of Mayweather as less than the very best out there. You see the difference? Nacho is fully expecting for Marquez to get all the accolades that a victory would bring him against Mayweather. .....but if Nacho starts to talk all this crap about Mayweather being out of the ring for almost two years, and that he had seen decay in him even well before he retired......he'd set himself up for the haters to have something to grab onto to diminish what would be a monumental accomplishment by his fighter. I tell you, if and when JMM beats Mayweather.....unlike what Roach would do.......Nacho is going to paint a picture of Marquez just having beaten the very best the sport has to offer. He is not going to sully a Marquez victory by pointing out, "Mayweather is'nt the same fighter of years past and I pointed out a major flaw in Mayweather's defense, and I had Juan working to exploit that flaw every day of training camp."
Bwa ja ja ja PAC is ONLY a 2 to 1 favorite... not a crazy 4 to 1 heavy favorite... PAC's advantages over Cotto: - faster - super prime (Cotto could be in a decline ) - stamina - southpaw (Cotto has problems with southpaws) - ring experience (PAC 54 total fights, Cotto 35 total fights) Do I need to add more? It's a close to even fight... .
