Martinez seems like hes a good fighter, but he hasnt been properly tested yet,Throw him in there wit Shane Mosley or Joshua Clottey, and then we rate him

albeit his rec has a lot of unknowns they are still pro fights. really, the higher the nr of fights the more respect a fighter should get.

easy to criticise fighters from your sofa isn't it?

What? Diaz has on his record Juan Manuel Marquez, Nate Campbell, Michael Katsidis, Julio Diaz, Acelinto Freitas and Jose Cotto. I can't think of any boxer 25 and younger with that kind of resume. And in a week tomorow he's fighting Paulie Malignaggi.

I wouldn't really mention Jose Cotto, who is nothing special, but instead I would add the guy he took the title from Lavka Sim (a tough Mongolian) at the tender age of 20 years old. Juan Diaz ducks nobody, and comes to fight every fight.

he's not sugar ray robinson or roy jones, jr, who many were comparing i thought was ludicrous, but he is a much improved fighter and even tho bulema and cintron aren't world beaters, they are still wins in which sergio looked magnificent and in the best shape of his career. mayorga didn't have a very impressive resume and look how many high profile fights he had after shocking the world over the viper (rip) i firmly believe no matter who you are you're only as good as your last fight and a win over a top 154lbr more people will take him seriously. the guy is in his 30's but fights like a guy in his 20's and i think he knows he doesn't have much time left so he's a serious threat for anyone at 154

Lots of ATG fighters used to fight journymen in between big fights to keep active and sharp. when he steps up he lookes impressive and he got robbed against cintron, and could never get a fight against forrest(rip).

he wants the big fights, and is a top 5 at 154!

heres a guy with a worse record...kesslers next mandatory....a real ****ing joke....already made a thread on it, but want to share for those who missed it

usmyl Perdomo is 16-2 and has lost the only 2 fights that have meant anything....why would Kessler waste fight on him? he hasnt fought in a year and is gonna fight this guy? what a ****ing joke.....
heres a breakdown of this clowns record

first 9 fights opponents were 19-25
6 of those fighters combined for a total of 7 wins

his 1oth fight he loses to mario veit
his next 5 fights which he won
    Antons Fedjuinind 8-4-1
    Carlos Ramos 8-5-2
    Ramdane Serdjane 17-21-3
    Edison Guedes 10-4
    Michael Bilak 15-3

then fights Dimitri Sartison and LOSES

    his next 2 fights
    TKO2 Hector Velazco
    TKO4 Laurent Goury 14-17

then....he is SOMEHOW MANDATORY to fight Kessler
WTF??? hes beaten a whos who of garbage
where as guys like Pavlik had to go through Miranda to get a shot at Taylor.....

The hype around Martinez isn't based on his record... FFS... It's based on his performance.

    DUH.

I dont even know Sergio Martinez. But let me show you something.

    Julio Cesar Chavez opponents records:
    #83: 10-10
    #78: 1-0
    #43: 3-6
    #42: 3-3
    #41: 0-0 Debut

But I don't think Julio Cesar Chavez record is laughable!!!!! Do you see what I am trying to say???

Well , if winky or pwill avoid martinez then it's obviously from financial reasons. he's not a big name because of that record you mentioned.
they have better options , but maybe winky if he's capable of making 154 anymore can gain back his old belt. martinez has a draw with cintron which is considerred a gift draw for cintron , and we saw later cintron's handling of angulo at that same weight and both cintron's and martinez' all loses are to margacheato which should make them enligible to be regarded 'undefeated' practically - not that i consider this to be such a great property unless it's maintained against perenial good and above oposition

Oh...You don't wanna get me started on Julio Cesar Chavez Sr.'s fight record. Its more than just LAUGHABLE....ITS ACTUALLY KIND'A SAD how he is thought of as this GREAT CHAMPION...And his fight resume is INFLATED LIKE A MOTHA-****A!!!

Example: He came into the Meldrick Taylor fight at 68-0. While Meldrick was fighting only his 23rd Pro fight. Chavez pulled a miracle out of his ass to win that fight in the last second.

Imagine if Chavez fought Fighters like Meldrick Taylor, Frankie Randall (who is really a journeyman fighter that he lost to) Pernell Whitaker, Julio Cesar Vasquez, Jose Luis Rimirez, James "Buddy" McGirt, Roberto Duran...Imagine Chavez Sr. fighting these fighters in his 23rd Pro fight...INSTEAD OF BUILDING HIS RESUME with a bunch of Mexican Cab Drivers before fighting TOP-LEVEL OPPONENTS!!!

WE WOULD HAVE NEVER HEARD OF JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ SR.

While he may be a bit overrated (who the **** isn't overrated/underrated), your an idiot for judging a fighter based on looking only at a record.
