    FightNews has been informed that the opponent for the September 18th special edition ESPN2 Friday Night Fights appearance of two-time Olympic Gold medal winner Guillermo Rigondeaux (2-0, 2 KOs) is Brazilian Giovani Andrade (60-11, 49 KOs), the reigning Brazilian super bantamweight champion. The Rigondeaux vs. Andrade contest will headline the “Caribbean Invasion” card, which is presented by Caribe Promotions Inc., in association with de Cubas Presents, LLC, and JAOLI Fight Promotions at the Fontainebleau Resort in Miami Beach, FL. The undercard also features Cuban amateur stars now pros: Cruiserweight Yunier Dorticos (1-0, 1 KO), jr middleweight Yudell Johnson (2-0, 1 KOs) and light heavyweight Yordanis Despaine (2-0, 1 KO). Also featured is 2008 Olympic Gold Medal winner from the Dominican Republic Felix Diaz (1-0) against Fred Tukes (7-1) in a jr welterweight bout.     Exactly the step-up we waited for! Very nice!

    Andrade is no pushover. Lost only to Juanma (TKO1) and Bautista (TKO4) in his last 10 and picked up a couple of local titles since then. Bigger, stronger and much more experienced at the pros than Rigo and has 49 KOs out of the 60 wins, that should be an alert for Rigo to put his stuff together, because this is the beginning of serious fights.

    Just read it on FN. Awesome news!

    I still have a saur taste in my mouth from the opposition in his first two fights.. (he sparred with guys who were 50 times better).

    But, I'm looking forward seeing THIS fight;)

    nah guille is no older than 29 trust me, the cuban government has no interest in lying about their age so they can make more money in the pros since they are not allowed to trun pro!!!!
