Corrales was a warrior in the ring, but he was no gentleman outside of it. He used to beat his wife on the regular. In fact he served a one year sentence for it, while she was pregnant no less. Hardly the stuff of a gentleman.

As to the question: He was a very exciting fighter, a crowd favorite, but far too limited to even be mentioned in the same breath as the greats.

Well, I always remembered his fight with JLC, and with Acelino Freitas...

The man was a monster from 130-135 and fought everyone there and gave us 1 of the best fights of the last 10 years. He has his limitations and wasn't exactly slick but the man was a beast, rangy, punched like a mule, natural puncher, great shape, massive at the weight and a high workrate. All time, maybe hard to rank and he doesn't have the fashionable names on his record despite beating many of the best in the weight classes he operated in. Mayweather, Castillo (2 times, should be 3), Cassamayor (3times), Freitas - all P4P or borderline P4P top guns. Then add quality contenders/titlists like Manfredy, Gainer, Garcia. He had a great short and sweet career

Of the last 10 years? When it comes to all action, one of the best ever. The finish was probably the most dramatic ever. Budd Schulberg rated it as perhaps the greatest fight he'd ever seen. And he seen a few classics in his lifetime.

He was one of my favorite fighters to watch. He was always a one dimensional guy who never used his physical attributes to his advantage other than his punching power. He could fight great inside, but he never worked behind a good jab or used his height advantage which he had over just about every opponent. Not sure where to rank him as an all time great, but he was always a lot of fun to watch. Imagine if he boxed a little more behind a jab, he could have accomplished more.

That's what I thought last night watching him with Castillo. But for a rangy guy he worked the inside pretty well. Seemed to be just something in his psychology that sent him inside.

Nowhere near my top 100 post-war greats.

Damn exciting and a big puncher. Sadly, his problems outside the ring seemed to take their toll on his performances inside. Great performance though it was, the circumstances around Chico's fight with Floyd made it even less competitive than it should've been.

Which would've been a win for Floyd IMO, but still.

Paul Williams is the same thing. Hes going to find out at middleweight that maybe he should utilize his height a little more. Bad things started to happen to Chico when he moved to 135 and then 140, and I suspect the same will happen to Williams.

    ****, didnt know that

he always seemed to conduct him self well from what i had seen and read shows how much i keep up to date with the gossip :patsch

I honestly think that fights overrated if it wasnt for that 10th round peoplewould have just called it a good fight

    lacked a skill level IMO

As for the supposed woman beating, who knows what goes on between a man and a woman, who knows if the accusations were in fact true or he was provoked beyond what is fair. If you've never wanted to choke the **** out of a girlfriend you've never lived with 1, women are infurating beings and avoiding conflict with them is a challenge in itself

hate to say it but i agree 100%. i've never gotten into that fight like others have. it rates in my top 10 of the decade; that's about it. great fight, good round (even the 10th wasn't all it was cracked up to be) but basically two guys standing in a booth taking turns whacking each other.

as for ranking chico, as fleaman said nowhere near the top 100. still a very good fighter, even a great fighter, who is definitely not an all time great.
