Was Dunncan Dokiwari a big puncher?.

I have also sparred with a ton of top guys including a few of those you just mentioned. Having been in the ring with Duncan, I can assure you that he's a murderous puncher. Everything he hit me with left bruises. I had knots on my forearms for weeks. The guy was/ is a beast.

Dokiwari was actually a good amateur and he won a Bronze Medal in the '96 Olympics. If anything, he is proof of 2 long-standing boxing axioms.

1.) A good amateur pedigree doesn't always translate to success on the pro level.
2.) A muscular build doesn't mean much in boxing

That being said, I still wish we could have seen more of him. I've read that he graduated from the University of Nevada with 2 degrees so that's pretty cool to hear.

 

There have been a lot of guys, some not considered huge punchers, but many could hit very hard. I'll list a few with high KO ratios or known punchers. I have probably left out some guys, but you'll get the idea.

1. Dokiwari- Everything he throws hurt
2. Mike Tyson- Never landed clean and was a bit out of shape
3. Sam Peter- Busted my ear drum at one time
4. Hasim Rahman- Right hand will put you in a coma.
5. Friday Ahunanya- Very underrated puncher. Jab and left hook hurt.
6. Lamon Brewster- Never landed clean but you could feel the power
7. Ray Mercer- Very stiff jab
8. Oliver Mccall- Very strong
9. Ruslan Chagaev- Good straight left. Very one dimensional
10. Donnell Holmes- Very hard jab and good body puncher despite his height

BTW, I have never been hit by a legit heavyweight that did'nt have power to hurt you. I have also talked with a lot of names. Ray Mercer told me that Tommy Morrison's left hook was the hardest that he was ever hit by. Friday Ahunanya along with others have claimed that Vlad's left hook was harder than anything Tyson or Tua ever hit them with.

 

He turns it over so quick that, between the shock of it coming and the power behind it, it is going to hurt badly. He floored Mercer with it.

I heard that bit about Mercer saying Morrison's hook was the hardest he's ever been hit by. The Duke had a perfect hook. :thumbsup Wlad's is more of a surprise punch ...................

What do you think of Wlad Klitschko's boxing ability ? Personally I am impressed with his double and triple left hook , he is fast when he wants to be.... if only he had his brothers fighting instinct.

 

Watch the video of Morrison catching Yuri Vaulin with the hook and it makes you wonder why it was a body shot that made Vaulin cave. That hook was vicious.
