Before the fight most people would talk about how Pavlik is gonna brutally KO Jones. Then the fight would come and Jones would whip Pavlik's ass. Then his win would be downplayed because people would start to talk about the holes in Pavlik's game and how he was to slow for Jones and that Jones is only fighting guys that don't have a shot in catching him or something like that. Just a wild guess.
roy would batter pavlik,look what hopkins did to him,he will never be the same again and he go a gift in the 2nd taylor fight.
A prime Roy would probably have bombed Pavlik out whenever he wanted. But Roy's legs have gone. Don't be fooled into thinking he's back because he pounded on the washed-up bum of washed-up bums in Lacy; he lay against the ropes for most of that one. We saw what happened when Calzaghe pressured Roy; Pavlik brings pressure in abundance. He would back him up and stop him late.
How does Roy Jones fight like Bernard Hopkins? This is really getting out of hand. People think that Hopkins layed the blueprint, and now anyone from Jones to PTP to Floyd ****ing Mayweather - and probably Ivan Calderon to boot - can just stroll in there and shut Pavlik out over 12. What Hopkins did, only an experienced, canny ATG can do. It takes a very special combination of unpredictable movement, complex footwork, accurate, fast punching, strength to handle KP on the inside and enough power to stop Pavlik walking you down to beat him that way. Right now, Roy Jones has none of that. KP peanuts is not a shot-to-**** Jeff Lacy.
Calzaghe is a way way way way faster then Pavlik in which Jones at this stage can't deal with Calzaghe fast flurry style. And Calzaghe is a southpaw. Pavlik has power but he's too easy to hit and at 170 or 175 pounds, Pavlik don't have an advantage on his side. I could see Jones even right now easily beat Pavlik.
