Even though the conference took place, I don't think the Adamek-Golota fight is 100% certain to happen. Everything depends on the Hopkins fight. The Golota fight is essentially backup insurance if the Hopkins fight doesn't pull through:

"Adamek and Hopkins agreed on how to split the pot for a potential fight. However, the pot wasn’t big enough for Hopkins. The fighters were hoping that HBO would raise the licensing fee they offered but had yet to hear from the network.

If HBO comes up with more money in the next day or so, Duva said, the Adamek-Golota fight would be canceled -- but she isn’t optimistic.
I’ve called HBO repeatedly,” she said. “They say they don’t have their budget yet and they might not have it until the end of September. Obviously, that would be too late to cancel a fight in October. … I asked Ziggy at our meeting (Wednesday) and he said we could cancel the fight this week but no later than that.”

Duva was quoted after the conference in Poland.

Yes I remember you posting at UGH. I had a few different handles from there but didnt post that much cause I didnt even own a PC at the time. Names I remember most were Gillburg, JETSKI, Radagast (Rummy?), Brisback, Andrew, Tomasz....a few others. This was back when Golota was in his physical prime and we were certain he would eventually win the big one. Then the Tyson debacle happened. Golota 'retired', and the forum was abandoned.

I remember reading Adamek wanted to fight Golota in October and then hopefully Hopkins next year. At this point, I hope Golota-Adamek happens. I thought by now the contracts had already been signed.

I watched USA Tuesday Night Fights as well, but never saw Golota on there. I remember guys like Rocky Gannon and Wayne McCoullough from there. First time I saw Golota was on HBO against Danell Nicholson. After the fight I remember thinking "Damn! This guy is not only good but dirty and mean to boot! (headbutt) Watch out for this guy". A few months later HBO announced Bowe's next fight and I recognized his opponent. I remember watching some sports talk shows a few days before the fight and everyone was saying how Bowe was going to blast thru this 'Polish guy' with ease.

Exactly, and then Golota ended up blasting Bowe into retirement and blasting his nutsack in the process. Naturally, everyone's **** poor excuse was "Bowe was a shot fighter past his prime"... what a load of ****.

The first fight, Bowe showed up a little heavy and was completely caught by surprise by then unknown Golota's skills, especially the jab. Bowe had never been outjabbed before.

The second fight Bowe trained his ass off. Some say he overtrained. I do not think it was so much Bowe being 'shot', I think Golota had peaked and really was THAT GOOD. Bowe was not 'shot', he was only 29 and had only been in a few wars with blown up cruiser Holyfield. Beyond that, what wars was Bowe involved in? None to my knowledge. If Bowe was really shot, Golota would have knocked him out. Both guys were fighting at their peak prime.

Really. Bowe was the top dog at HW at that time. If he was so shot, why did he lose all that weight to get in shape for the rematch, wanting revenge? To get his ass kicked again? Of course not. He got his ass embarrased & wanted to show that white boy who's boss. Only it didn't work out that way for him. He got a worse beating the 2nd time!!!

Bowe underestimated Andrew and paid the price, not once but twice. If Andrew had the same mindset and "nothing to lose" attitude before the Lewis fight, he'd have dismantled him as well.

They would never say that had Golota become a champ and had a successful career. They basically want to justify how Bowe could have lost to someone like Golota twice.

Well, he if he wasn't shot before he fought Andy, he sure as hell was shot after those wars Golota put him through.

Still can't believe the punishment he inflicted on Bowe. :thinkRemember in the rematch, somewhere in the later rounds, with Bowe against the ropes...4 tremendous shots from Golota right at the bell.

    Beautiful stuff:D

    Oh, you mean this round?

I really think this fight should have been stopped after this round. But, Bowe kept fighting. He seemed to be out on his feet for most of the fight! But still, he somehow kept swinging and even landed some good ones in the later rounds. Amazing. Yet tragic. I really think he slurs so badly these days because of that second fight with Golota.

    That round was truly something.

Considering Golota tasted the canvas and (I think) also lost a point in the previous round, it's amazing they way he came out in the 5th. That knockdown was simply tremendous. Nailed him with a couple of great shots to the head, and then followed up with a wicked shot to the body.

By the 7th round, it was more or less target practice for Golota. I think that was the round where he even snuck in a back-handed shot.
