GREAT BOXING ENIGMAS: Fighters who SHOULD have achieved so much more........

Starting with one of themost talented fighters to come out of Panama, Guillermo Jones.

Began as a welterweight, belting out a succession of 'tomato cans' before stepping up to the plate in a light middleweight tilt against underrated Laurent Boudouani, drawing and then losing controversially in back-to-back challenges in 1998.

Has since eaten his way up to Cruiserweight, only losing once, by SD to Steve Cunningham.

Stopped some decent operators such as Kelvin Davis and Wayne Braithwaite before taking his opportunity at 'World' level again, beating solid Firat Arslan to take the WBA bauble a year ago.

Seems to be under the general fight fans' radar, with a non existent profile and, at 37, his best years are surely behind him.

Would like to see a 'career defining' or at least 'marquee' name on his ledger before he disappears altogether.

How about a tussle with tough, but IMO overrated Adamek, or, conversely, the equally underrated Afolabi?

I was about to say something along those lines about Vargas before he ran into Trinidad.

Mike Tyson is the No.1 example of a fighter who could and should have achieved more. But the cause of this is not an enigma. He was phisically strong and fast, but mentally weak and unstable.

    Another examples:
    Zab Judah
Fernando Vargas (He turned from potential great to washed up with the first Tito left hook he took)
Jermain Taylor (he still has a little chance to redeem himself)
    Naseem Hamed
    Hurricaine Carter

I think Mosley did damn fine for himself, about as good as he could've actually. The man who the inept threadstarter named himself after is a good choice, though.

    How 'bout Emanuel Burton?

Had all the talent in the world, but fought for chump change and won **** all in his disappointing career.

Well hes not really an enigma and did very well for himself but Joe Calzaghe always strikes me as someone who should of achieved abit more than he did.
