We can now say that Ricky Hatton is DONE...

Nah he's not shot mentally. Or even physically. Hatton is just comfortable. He doenst need boxing anymore. He was hungry back when he beat Kostya because people in the sport were calling him a can for all his WBU defences. But by then he was already a multi millionaire. Now he has all the money in the bank and doesnt really need to get his head bashed in to make the ends meet. Hatton done fantastically well out of this sport thanks to Warren and his promotional prowess. Hatton does love boxing so me thinks this will either be a brief sabbatical rather than retirement. The itch will get him soon enough.

 

Who do you see as his next opposition?

Diaz?

Khan?

 

Hopefully Khan. That would put British boxing back on the map again. Diaz is also a good fight. But realistically i dont see "where" on the world scene as he's simply not good enough to beat the any half decent box puncher. Hatton is a very flawed fighter who done fantastically well with that one dimension. But its not good enough anymore when your opponents are some of the best fighters in the sport.

 

He's lost to two P4P#1's.

He completely schooled Malignaggi. Malignaggi then went on to 'beat' Diaz who made P4P#2 Marquez work very hard for a victory.

Hatton would still beat 99% of boxers at 140.

 

I think he would beat Khan easily, he is just all wrong for a guy that is hopeless inside and chinny.

Not that Hatton is a GREAT inside fighter, he never has been - it was just a myth, something he built up a great deal himself rather than sticking to what he was better at - drawing the lead from the opponent and working from there.

Diaz would be a good fight, but I'd reserve judgement on the winner until I have seen more of what he has left.

 

Diaz is a feather fist.

And the way he fights plays straight into Hatton's hands.

He's even less of a threat than Khan.

 

I am glad he made this choice, I personaly do not feel Hatton is shot, but its best to stop now after that kind of stoppage he has made some money won world titles no need to continue.
his only two losses were against two of the best P4P fighters in the world, and the last loss he suffered might have been at the hands of one of the greatest fighters that ever lived.

 

Every time a plump picture of Hatton turns up, why the fu** is everyone so surprised??!! It's nothing new, he always balloons in between fights.
