I was never particularly impressed by JT and I was very dissappointed that hopkins never beat him
kelly pavlik may yet turn out to be a good MW champ, I dont think he will ever be a hopkins or hagler, but IF HE CAN LEARN FROM AND RECOVER FROM the hopkins loss, he might still do big things
    but thats a big IF

This thread isnt fairly made at all. You are comparing an active champion to those that finished their reign. That doesnt make any sense. Let Pavlik finish his reign and then look back at it.

    And?

Pavlik fought Taylor on Taylors demands in the rematch, is it Kellys fault it was not at 160lbs? If anything you should give Kelly some credit for meeting ALL of Taylors demands.

great job missing the point. you can't take judge their middleweight credentials by using a fight that's not at the middleweight limit you dope.

    actually it does.

do we lower ray robinson's ranking at welterweight because he lost a bunch of times at middleweight?? do we lower rafael marquez' ranking at bantam because he lost twice at junior featherweight?

    :patsch:patsch:patsch

Your right man. I mean after all there are many fighters that has beaten Hopkins and Wright convincing right? lol man please. The last time Hopkins lost very clearly was against Roy Jones in 1993. Yes Wright lost easily to Williams but before that nobody that was a real top contender has ever beaten Wright convincing. You could say Hopkins did but that at 170 pounds in which Wright had to move up 10 more pounds.

No, I'm not. I'm saying Pavlik whooped his ass twice and Taylor looked like **** in pretty much every other fight outside of the two with Hopkins, which he arguably lost.

It was 4 ****ings pounds difference, and on Taylor's terms no less. If you think that hindered him in any way you have the mental capacity of a shoe. If anything it helped him, as he performed much better in the rematch, but still ended up losing.

Whooped his ass twice? You consider Pavlik beating Taylor in a rematch an ass whooping in which that fight was a close one?

He beat neither fighter convincingly. He basically drew with an increasingly weight drained and less active Hopkins over two fights, which was more due to Hopkins's lack of stamina and conservative approach than anything.

He then lost, IMO, to the smaller Winky Wright, who actually overpowered him at times and exposed Jermain's limitations. This coming from a limited, basic stylist in his own right in Winky.

He then proceeded to beat Kassim Ouma (big whoop), only to show once and for all how inept his boxing skills were against Cory Spinks in his next fight. That was the one that did it for me. Complete and total mediocrity through and through.

I think you're pointing out inconsequential parts of my post which prove nothing to your case. You really like taking things at face value, don't you? I could tell that the last time we conversed:

Listen asswipe, whether or not you believe it Kelly Pavlik deserves credit for agreeing on all of Taylors terms. You are blatantly avoiding that victory.

As a matter of fact, Taylors reign as mw champion consisted of three highly questionable decisions against Hopkins, Wright and Spinks, and a win against the much smaller Kassim Ouma.

Let Pavliks reign as champion be judged when he's actually done reigning. He's still champ, remember? :patsch

Why are people still saying Hopkins was weight drain when he fought Taylor twice? None of the reporters or hbo crew ever mention Hopkins was weight drain when he fought Taylor twice. <<<I think thats a bs excuse coming from you and the rest of the people.

Wright wasn't a smaller fight when he fought Taylor. Look at Wright body size, that a body of a middleweight. Mercent even say that when Wright fought at 154, he have the body of a middleweight.

Yea and alot of fighters could beat Spinks convincing? lol. Yea Judah tko Spinks but thats cause of styles in which Judah is also a southpaw and has the blazing speed in which Taylor doesn't.

Do you realize when Taylor fought Wright, Ouma, Spinks, that was 3 in a row that Taylor fought southpaws?

You ignoring my reply when i say "yea and there are alot of fighters that has beaten Hopkins and Wright convincing huh?"
