Because Taylor was a huge hype job for HBO entertainment, he was their posterboy even before he "beat" Hopkins in their first bout. And this is coming off of the Taylor Express thread creator, Jermain definitely did not win that first fight in my eyes.

Wright fought his best at 154lbs, had only one stellar win at 160 against Trinidad which indeed was stellar but not enough to say he was at his best at 160lbs. Wright is at least one inch shorter and has a two inch reach disadvantage. Wright fought as low as 147, but most of his career he floated in the 154lbs division. Taylor never even fought under the MW limit.

Because Spinks was a big underdog and that fight was a big shocker back when it happened, Spinks was not even regarded as a serious contender, yet he lost a highly dubious decision to Spinks.

    And what?

No, it's based on logic, understanding, and knowledge of Hopkins's career. It has nothing to do with what a few numbskull HBO reporters said, which is obviously what you base your boxing views on. Hopkins was always a natural LHW, and at 40 years old it's pretty logical that over a decade of draining down would sap your strength and stamina. Especially considering how well he performed directly after moving up, and against the same competition that Taylor took on in guys like Wright and Pavlik.

He was still the naturally smaller fighter. That can't really be disputed.

Umm. Yes. Any decent MW champion should've stopped Spinks, or at least beaten him convincingly. Taylor just look befuddled in there and was without any idea of what to do. Spinks's inactive offense is the only reason he lost that fight. Taylor looked like total **** in that fight. If you're going to try to dispute that it doesn't speak too highly of your analytical ability. He did everything wrong in that fight.

And? If anything that should've helped him out in gaining experience against the southpaw style. He never improved as a fighter, that was Taylor's downfall. He lacked a good boxing brain.

And I didn't ignore your reply about beating Wright and Hopkins convincingly. In fact I clearly responded to it in the post you just quoted. Are you illiterate or just daft?

It's hard to get big fights with hyped Euro fighters who make a lot of money fighting in Germany like Abraham. Taylor had better American fighters at Middleweight to fight than Pavlik did, and Pavlik knows it's easier to make a fight with a hyped American undefeated fighter than a hyped undefeated Euro fighter.

Hop was not weight drained for Taylor...Dibella beat Hop if anything because I never saw JT beat Hop in either fight, and I never recognized JT as a mw champ nor do I see PAv as a mw champion. PAv literally won the lineal title, but JT never beat Hop so...lol.

    100% correct :happy

Pavlik wanted absolutely no part of Abraham, he made that even moreso clear by saying he was content fighting the likes of Duddy for the MW strap than to fight Abraham who has since grown tired of Pavlik and moved up for the SMW tournament.

Funny and i don't read any reports, articles or even Hopkins himself about being weight drain. I think it's just an bs excuse in which you and the rest of trying to take away Taylor's win.

Name me atleast 2 or 1 top middleweight that would have stop a slickster Spinks in the same year when he fought Taylor?

When Hopkins fought Wright, Wright was out of shape and Wright had to move up 10 pounds just to fight Hopkins at a catchweight. Same thing with Pavlik when he had to move up 10 more pounds but at the same time style does makes fight.

I also don't believe Taylor really "beat" Hopkins. I just think it reflects bad on Hopkins (even at that stage) that he was run so close by such a mediocre fighter. He's made up for it since then, but still.

Pavlik has fought 4 times since he won the titles. Two fights were mandatories, and one was a contracutally obligated rematch. The only time he had a choice of opponents he CHOSE Bernard Hopkins.

It looks like December 5th is a go for Pavlik/Williams. KP has to see the doc Monday to get the final clearance. Goosen, Arum, and HBO all say it's a go if the doc says so. Now, this is only the 2nd time Kelly had a choice of opponents since before the Zertuche fight, and he turned down Sturm, Mora, Balzsay, Wright, and Martinez, and said "Get me Paul Williams." Ya all musta forgot! Paul Williams is "the most feared man in boxing," and make no mistake about it, Kelly Pavlik was the driving force behind making this fight!
