October return for Sutherland 26 August 2009 - By Mark Doyle Darren Sutherlands next outing will be on the undercard of Jason Booths British super-bantamweight defence against Michael Hunter at the Seaham Centre in Sunderland on Friday, October 16. It is a long overdue return to the ring for the Irish super-middleweight, who took his professional record to 4-0 with a fourth-round TKO of Gennadiy Raselev at the York Hall on June 30. Sutherland had been scheduled to return to the ring in Sunderland ten days later. However, a minor cut to his right cheek put paid to that plan. As a result, the Beijing Olympian was added to the undercard of Jamie Moores European light-middleweight title defence against Jimmy Colas, in Altrincham on July 24. However, that card was cancelled after Moore was forced to withdraw because of a severe bout of the flu, leaving Dazzler twiddling his thumbs. But Sutherland has now been penciled in for a scheduled six-round contest against on as yet unconfirmed opponent on the eagerly-anticipated Booth-Hunter bill. Tickets for the show priced £90 and £35 are available from www.frankmaloney.com and 0871 226 1508.
If anything he's forgetting things.....like how to jab. I was seriously frustrated with how he fought in Tallaght and I don't think he threw a jab all night, making it very easy for the other guy to spoil because Spike was just walking in. Btw taken from the boxrec forums, Scott Mallon: ' I was told by Galaxy that the only reason they signed anything with Pat Magee is they were told he is/was the promoter of Bernard Dunne. The problems stemmed not because they weren't interested in fighting for more money - obviously they were - but because they believe Brian Peters to be Dunne's promoter and feel slighted by Magee and Charles Atkinson. As the WBAsses did not wish to allow a two week extension, they were put in a position where they had two days to make the deal with Peters, thus supposedly running the risk of a suit by Magee, or go to the purse bid. The whole situation is a clusterf*ck...' Mallon lives in Thailand and is connected to Poonsawat's team so these most like is genuine news and it really shows what a cowboy Magee is.
Magee is a vulture, what has he got against Dunne anyway? First he's jumping on Kiko Martinez and now Poonsawat atsch
Thats some news there big ears, Magee is turning out to be a bit of a boy but it hasnt hurt Dunne, its helped him
He's like the stereotypical evil villain in a children's cartoon, despite all his scheming he never wins. With that said if he does indeed have a valid deal with Poonsawat(and he may not if he's misrepresented himself), and the Thai wins then there'll be plenty of opportunity for Magee.
Heres a thought and its a way out there, but have you ever considered that Peters and Magee might be working together. Think about Peters has achieved both times what he wanted and that was control of venue for Dunne against mandatory contenders, in the case of Martinez and now the Thai.Pat Magee has a fine working relationship with Hawkins as has Peters. **** knows what plans are being concocted in The Holy Trinity gym in Belfast.:hey
