ok , this is just my take on this fight...(if it ever happens...)

Nogueira already had to fight huge guys like Lesnar in his career...Sapp is actually bigger than Lesnar , but his wrestling is mediocre when compared to lesnar's....

But , Sapp had enough strength to easily toss Nog like a rag doll...

But why would Lesnar be more dangerous ? Well , he uses his strength and size to block most of his opponents on the ground & g&p them.

He did that to Heath Herring & Mir.

But.. It's not like Nogueira never had to endure this type of punishment. Afterall , he had to fight Fedor on several occasions. and i'd argue that fedor's g&p > Lesnar's...

why ? simply because by comparing herring vs Lesnar...to herring vs Fedor...it's a no brainer.

Mir has always been a poor man's nogueira in my book. Yes he did beat him and maybe he would beat him again in a rematch , but after learning about this:

    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=165704

I'll give Nogueira a decent shot against anyone from now on. (even though i still think that he's way past his prime) but his latest fight against Randy was his best UFC performance to date.

( He looked like crap against Herring , Sylvia & Mir ).

Right now , i'd give him a reasonable chance against Lesnar.
Because in the worst case scenario...
he can be on his back for the entire duration of the fight , but i know that he'd be constantly working for a submission & that he could handle the punishment...though it's not a certainty , if he can manage to be persistant with his sub attempts...He may be capable to simply outlast Lesnar and jump on the opportunity to submit him.

When Randy fought Lesnar , (before the TKO)...Brock was showing clear signs of fatigue and i don't think he would've been able to last 5 full rounds like this.

He lasted 3 rounds against Herring and won by UD but Herring wasn't doing much & was for the most part in the turtle position.

Against Nogueira , Brock would be forced to constantly change his position and outpower nog to get out of submissions attempts.

That's what Fedor had to do back in 2003...But fedor had an insane stamina (and still does)...Lesnar doesn't. and his workrate isn't on par with Fedor's..

But...we're still in 2009...not in 2003...and Nogueira is still different....

But him beating Lesnar doesn't seem far fetched imo. I think all it takes to beat Lesnar is either a super solid striker with top takedown defense (prime crocop)... or a super endurant fighter who can handle a tremendous amount of punishment but who'll also tire his opponent for 5 full rounds..

Velasquez seems to be another fine candidate...He seems to have a lot of heart...(but he's not the biggest hw out there...)

My good freind made the point to me last now how far has Lesnar actually went in a fight ? He said yeah the Herring fight was 15 minutes but at a extremly slow pace and so was the 2nd Mir fight. The quickest pace he went was with Couture and he was gassing in the 2nd round. How does Lesnar react in the 4th round was Nog has took everything Lesnar has and Nog is hardly breathing ?

I still think Nog is past his best. BUT he has an awesome ground game. If he gets Brock into his guard the likelyhood is a submmision. Although plausible its more than likely not probable :)

I want to see Brock vs Duffe!!

nogueira survived fedor's g n p, but he's a lot more shopworn now. he can't take a beating for 3 rounds for brock to tire, it won't work that way. to beat brock you'll have to tire him on his feet or in a clinch like how couture tried to do.

I really don't think Nog would stand up to Lesnar's form of GnP for very long. Lesnar doesn't ground and pound like a normal fighter. He takes people down so fast and violently that he often ends up in a great offensive position (as opposed to stuck in guard). From there, he can just maul the side of someone's head. I don't care how good your chin is, you can't take shots from a 285 pound man to the side of the dome for very long.

Well Nogueiras guard is so great he will consistently being throwing up armbars and triangles at Brock and offsetting Brocks GNP attempts. Nog may even be able to sweep Brock last night Randy was in his guard and Nog swept him with what appeared to be little effort and Randy like Brock is a well decorated wrestling with a outstanding base. I know Brocks huge but Nog has the skills to get it done.

I think Lesnar's top control will be enough to brutally TKO Nog. Even standing, Nog is much metter, but very hittable, Lesnar will catch him and Nog will be hurt and lesnar will finish it

Jesus, Duffe is like 5-0 and has had ONE fight in the UFC.

    I really hope you're joking.

Lesnar BEATS Nog and I dont see it being that competitive. Lesnar is too big, too strong, too great a wrestler for Nog to give him any problems.

    I hope im wrong though.

Yeah, this is how I see it too. I wish it were different, but I think Lesnar's power an patience might be too much for Nog. I's love to see Nog sub him, but I don't think Lesnar will let that happen.

They said the same thing about Mir. Bottom line is Noguiera wont be throwing up anything when Lesnar is on top of him. And he certainly wont be sweeping Brock.

Randy is an accomplished wrestler, he is also 46 years old and significantly smaller than Brock.

Lesnar by KO in 1 round. Noguiera is finished. His a shot fighter. He makes Sakuraba look fast on his feet. Noguiera has no reflexes to avoid punches. In his early 30's but his body and mind is older than that.

yea that's what i was thinking. duffe is a big boy almost as big as lesnar. He as power too to possibly hurt lesnar. If duffe can put on a winning streak and lesnar can get by carwin then lesnar-duffe fight might happen in the future.

Nog is still past it, and I don't think his durability is as strong as before... but an upset against Brock is possible.

Brock vs Nog should happen right after Carwin

If Lesner beats Nogueira it would be an upset.

    Nog win via submission.
