I would like to watch boxing at a bar also, but the only bars around my area show UFC, and IMO bars while fun aren't the best place to watch a fight, not terribly comfortable and on top of it, very loud

regarding the topic at hand, what’s so bad about boxing at movie theaters? ...I think the anti social ones who buy the PPVs for $49.95 or what ever the hell they cost are the only ones complaining

but security will have to be beefed up, as fights have been known to break out, at fights.

I mean I've had people over to watch boxing before ... I'd rather try something different and get out of the house to watch boxing.

and regarding the whole boxing being/not being on TV .. It is on TV, just mainly on

and m8te I don't get your posts ... have been following along though but

on the first page, in your first post regarding the topic you say this idea "doesn't make sense" and is for the homeless boxing fans and it wouldn't work

so then why is your second post on the topic commenting on the "undoubtedly overstuffed movie theater" ..

why would the movie theaters be over stuffed if this idea isn't going to work, and would only be seen by the "homeless" boxing fans

if the theater is over stuffed .. sounds like the event would be pretty successful, eh?

and boxing at movie theaters has happened before, granted it was the 1980s but it happened. sure the Theaters are taking a risk in doing it, and it might not pay off, but at least they are attempting an alternate to paying $49.95 to see this fight. As I really feel boxing fans NEED more outlets besides PPV in seeing fights

dunno about you, but a big complaint of mine as a boxing fan are the prices of PPV .. if you want to criticize anything "not making sense" why the hell is boxing one of the few sports left using PPV?

I think your taking it too far with saying “no one is buying the gimmick of going to the movies to watch a big time fight.” again how do you know that .. why not wait till the thing flops first before saying this?

I do see your side of the argument that boxing isn’t broad enough audience wise to where putting it at the theaters will be profitable. The generic care factor might just not be high enough and hell even with $5 tickets it still very well could flop

but at least the risk is being taken.

and what’s so sucky about the idea? It's a hell of a lot better then sitting at home and watching it for $49.95 .. been their done that.

you'll probably get more for your money watching the mexicans vs blacks than the actual fight itself.

first in line gets dibs to the back seats.

That's more exciting, thrilling, deadly fights... Mex vs. Blacks free-for-all fights inside the movie theaters...:D

BTW, I think this movie showing will eat some more buys from the already projected low PPV sales...

Oh well, its not like its "late breaking news". Other than Pacquiao fights, boxing has been getting low PPV buys.

The point of the movie showing is to increase the exposure of boxing. Which main audience right now is a bunch of old men who are about to die soon. When that happens than "who else is gonna watch boxing?".

Showing of boxing fights in movie theaters is good for boxing and its fans... It gives boxing more exposure and it give fans more easy access to boxing fights...

Boxing been around for a long time and I think it will stay for another long period of time... Boxing has an amateur category... It's an olympic sport... I think young people will continue to practice and enjoy boxing...

Brilliant move by promoters...I don't know why boxing ever went away from this...big fights used to be shown at theaters all the time...it made the event much more exciting!!

Stupid we out number you. I see more Filipinos in boxing events than any race. Plus we actually get along with people of all races. We don't hate on anybody. But if you want a fight will give you a fight.
