Happiest: I'm not sure because there's a whole bunch of them and I don't think there's one that sticks out above all others. If I had to I'd probably say Taylor/Hopkins 1 though because I had lived in Little Rock at the time and the whole city had followed and watched JT develop and supported him through the Olympics and all. When he finally got his shot at Hopkins I swear that entire city was watching that PPV. Little Rock doesn't have any pro sports teams so it's pretty much Razorbacks and Jermain Taylor. When Michael Buffer said "and NEW, undisputed, middleweight champion of the world" the whole city went crazy, I still get goosebumps to this day watching it. Saddest: It's between three of them for me, Taylor/Pavlik 1, Cotto/Margarito, and Taylor/Froch. I have to go with Taylor/Froch though, I can't ever remember getting the feeling I got seeing JT so close to getting back on top only to lose in the closing seconds of the fight to a guy that he was much better than. I was speachless and in a state of shock watching that **** happen. Taylor/Pavlik 1, and Cotto/Margarito were similar just not as bad because in those fights I didn't feel as supremely confident that my fighter would win.
saddest boxing moments:learning of arturo gatti's death,hatton losing to mayweather&to a lesser extent pacquiao,gatti losing to mayweather,baldomir&gomez. happiest boxing moments:arturo gatti's career especially his fights with rodriguez,ward,robinson,ruelas etc,hatton v thaxton,magee,phillips,tszyu,maussa&castillo,gomez v arthur,corrales-castillo 1,seeing hearns&tyson live in person,theres literally thousands
awsome read!! I forgot to name a few that ive since remembered - Judah knocking out Spinks to finally be undisputed welterweight champion - Seeing Vargas vs mayorga live... was awsome as could be.
Happiest: Witnessing the spectacle that was Holmes vs Cooney in person at Caesars Palace. Saddest: watching the shell of Muhammad Ali get beat up by Larry Holmes
happiest: mosley handing a beating to margarito for various reasons besides margarito being a cheat. saddest: graciano rocchigiani getting robbed against maske and michalczewski.
Two biggest highs: Seeing Louis decimate Schmeling in the return and when local Rocky Graziano stopped Tony Zale for the middleweight title (bedlam in the neighborhood) Biggest low was seeing Marciano KO Louis, leaving him limp on the ring apron.
Happiest: Seeing Shane Mosley destroy Margarito cause I love Mosley, but also because of all the **** I got thrown at me for saying Shane would win and many people saying Shane was shot/past it ect. Saddest: JMM not getting a decision either time against Pacquiao and then getting vastly under-appreciated and underrated while Pacquiao got all types of hype for cherry picking a couple shot-to-pieces fighters. ( don't be critical of me for saying it, because I didn't just say it after-the-fact.) This one doesn't bother me now, considering Marquez is fighting the best fighter in the world in a few weeks anyway.
Happy: watch Marquez against Pac 2. The odds went from even money to Pac -230, but I held out to everyone I talked to that Marquez was the better boxer and would show that over 12 rounds. Sad: hearing the decision. I just couldn't believe they did that to him. Listening to Merchant's interview afterwards was especially frustrating, listening to him say **** like "you always come up short" to the man who won the ****ing fight, then Lampley say "Now that Pac has claimed superiority in the division..." **** both of you dicksucks. As usual, only Steward was reasonable. Hearing the Cotto/Clottey decision was tough, and IMO a worse result than Diaz/Malig. The news of Forrest's death, especially since I first heard of it at a gambling forum. It was a harsh reminder that these are real people and not decks of cards. He was a great person not just a great boxer, it was very sad. If I was older I'm sure the Arguello loss would have hurt as much.
Williams beating Tyson, Harrison and Skelton. Calzaghe beating Hopkins and Lacy. Hatton beating Tszyu. Saddest include Williams losing to VITLAY, Hatton losing to Mayweather and Jones losing to Tarver.
I was ****in delighted when Hatton lost to Mayweather and Pacquaio. I was devastated when Tyson lost to McBride, Ireally thought if tyson beat McBride he would go on to reclaim the heavyweight title.
Saddest: Being at the arena and watching Spinks TKOed by Judah in front of a sold out home crowd. The look on his face will always be etched in my memory. Taylor being KOed by Pavlik Happiest: Watching Sugar Shane beat the **** out of Margarito in front of a pro Margarito crowd gave me sheer euphoria:happy
saddest: lou Duvas pathetic advise to meldrick taylor vs chavez in the final round and pernell being jobbed vs chavez happiest: to many to mention
