 Oh what a BS myth that is. I can't believe people still believe that. That was just Roy's way of excusing his poor performance against Tarver, but in reality his age just caught up with him evident in his performances since that 1st fight with Tarver.
I think Hatton was certainly ruined by Mayweather. The punches that put him down in the 1st round against Pacman, he was walking through against Tzuyu. After Mayweather, his aura of invincibility vanished, aswell as his punch resistance. Not sure about Cotto after Tony. He's certainly not ruined but I think its definitely had a negative impact on his confidence (more specifically, his confidence in his punch power). I'm not sure he can deal with the fact he lost (albeit extremely controversial), it's probably knocked his confidence in his punch power and his own chin. I think the same can maybe be said about Pavlik. He went into that fight a fairly big favorite, and to be completely spanked for 12 rounds... Pavlik's gameplan was to go in there and throw 100 punches a round, did he even throw 100 punches in total? It was the same degree of dismantling as Hatton/Mayweather. p.s. nice thread
is quality thread for once. taylor by pavlik def morales by pacquiao taylor by chavez floyd patterson by liston one thing was lacy really ruined by calzaghe ive never seen him fight any differently before or after
Magarito has not fought since mosley so we dont know if he's been ruined. Cotto is not ruined and will prove everyone wrong come november. Judah went on to win the undisputed welterweight championship after his fight with Tszyu also. Total bull**** as usual Jeff However, three examples ... Trinidad ruined Vargas, as well as Mayorga IMO. Chavez ruined Taylor, Camacho and Rosario. Pure beatdowns ruin fighters, not quick KO's
ive been reading this thread waiting for someone to say this and wouldnt you know it to be a couple of ****in noobs!!!! no offense guys but this is ****, whether you personally think it or not. why not wait for a mw to at least go the distance w/ pav before you spout this nonsense and discredit his entire existance. he got his butt whipped by the best lhw in the world when he did have some documented disadvantages (whether you choose to believe them or not is your business). but christ almighty no mw has even heard the final bell against pav and now all of a sudden his right which has stopped every mw to get in the ring w/ him is now exposed. :rofl:rofl:rofl tighten up noobs!!!
It's difficult to mark them all down as being 'ruined', for example Hatton produced some less than stellar performances before Mayweather, Maccarinelli was never anything to start with, it just so happened that bar Mathew Ellis, he's been fighting good fighters since & including the Haye fight. Lacy aswell the shoulder surgery played a big part, Margo we don't yet know - he was ruined by his own admission with the pads. Cotto was hardly ruined by Margo, he's come back to beat Clottey, win a world title again and now he's fighting the P4P #1.
