Hamed had several operations on his hands, he used to have Calcium deposits on the top of his hands where the bones fused together.

Fair shout on the reasons for hamed's inactivity. Just hope it wasn't some bull**** excuse for putting a load of weight on.

Why did he wait till now to reveal this and let everyone say he stopped fighting because MAB ruined him

I doubt his hands are the real reason, after MAB let him see where he really ranked, he probably knew it was time to hang it up, unlike Hatton.

Addidas dropped him prior to BArrera due to Hameds vocal religious beliefs post 9/11

HBO also werent willing to back him during such a sensitive time.

Damn thats sounds PAINFUL. He threw from all those angles so it makes sense. I still think psychologically his first and only loss had something to do with it, but its true without his power why fight on?

Putting weight on is normal for any retired/semi-retired or inactive fighter. These guys make a living staying in shape and spent their enite lives staying in fighting shape. Putting on a lot of weight when inactive or retired is reasonable and normal.

Yeh dont get me wrong, i wasn't denying that fact. I just thought that without releasing any sort of info on his initial 7 year absence it did leave that possibility open as to why he's using this reason for his inactivity/retirement.

Duran was a good example of the weight thing you speak of and he still managed to kick some serious arse all the same. :bbb

Barreraism - One of the rarest diseases that has afflicted only about 60 people in history. A severe case of the condition can lead to early retirement.
