I think JMM vs Pac is a better barometer to see how JMM can deal with speed. There's a strong possibility that JMM went to war with Diaz knowing that he wasn't a hard enough puncher to really hurt him.

I dont think he had much of a choice to tell you the truth.

Juan brung the ruckus and Marquez had to go with him..and passed with flying colours.

I think the extra weight may have made him a bit less mobile aswell.

Marquez strategy was clear during the 24/7 last Saturday Nacho and his brother were telling him to go to the body. I was impressed by his hight altitude training lifting rocks where you can barely breahte I'm not sure if his way of bulking up and power training will help against Floyd speed.

Reminder: Similar threads were all over when Pac was set to fight DLH.

"Pac was rocked by Marquez at super feather"

"Pac had trouble handling Marquez' speed and counter punches"

"Pac was KO'd 100 years ago"

    "Pac was rocked against Morales"

    And so on.

When the bell rings it's a different fighter prepared for a different opponent using different techniques.

diaz was not faster then marquez......diaz pressure style is what gave marquez problems.....diaz got KTFO due to marquez speed and percision

Mayweather and Diaz utilize their speed differently.....Floyd is faster obviously with single shots. Diaz is a high volume guy who doesnt always place his punches, but tries to overwhelm opponnents. Mayweather picks his shots, currently puts combos together slower than Diaz, but he's more likely to time JMM with punches he doesn't see coming. And he's a more powerful 1 punch guy than Diaz.

You are right in your statement except you failed to consider the major difference. Mayweather does not throw in bunches. He tends to pick his punches, instead of the Diuaz style where he throws 100 ounches in a round.

I still think this will be a target practice for potshotting.

some people think that Diaz was just a fake belt holder who was awarded
the title on paper so the guys like Marquez should just eat him alive.
I think the reality is that DIAZ is the good and quality fighter who
have some skills which allowed him to be world champion.
The important thing is Marquez beat him, not that he had some
troubles on the way with this or that.

Diaz is a volume puncher, nothing else. Hell, he lost to Malignaggi and Campbell.

It wasn't the speed that was troubling him. What was troubling him was someone who would swarm in and throw aggressive combinations at the rate Diaz did, which didn't give him time to think. Marquez is perfectly effective at dealing with fast fighters by controlling the range, catching their shots on his guard and counter-punching. Diaz gave him problems because he constantly got inside and just kept firing.

Mayweather is a different ball game to Diaz. He doesn't constantly come forward; he's mostly on the back foot. He leaps in with one or two shots and backs off. Marquez should be able to handle that a lot better than he did Diaz. His defensive faculties as displayed vs. Pacquiao are more relevant to JMM/PBF than JMM/Diaz.

Right on. It was aggression and not speed that Diaz bought in spades to their fight.

    Cracking fight.

I don't hold as much optimism out for this one, no matter how much more talented or bigger than Diaz Floyd is.

The styles are just chalk and cheese.

Marquez may not be fast at 144 while Floyd being to used to fighting in this weight would be faster than Marquez.:deal
